Description

Hunter S. Thompson was an American journalist and author, famous for his novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. He is credited as the creator of Gonzo journalism, a style of reporting where reporters involve themselves in the action to such a degree that they become the central figures of their stories. He is also known for his promotion and use of psychedelics and other mind-altering substances (and to a lesser extent, alcohol and firearms), his anarchist views, and his iconoclastic contempt for authority.

This 5-disc set is the audio companion piece to the Magnolia Pictures feature film. Directed by OSCAR-winner Alex Gibney and narrated by Johnny Depp, Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson was released in over 100 art houses theaters in over 20 key markets on July 2, 2008 to much critical praise. USA Today raved "Gonzo... is a mesmerizing look at the mythic quality and anarchic spirit of the irreverent and rabble-rousing journalist."

Includes an amazing 44-page booklet full of never-before-seen images from Hunter S. Thompson's estate, along with memorable photos which have been noted throughout his career.
