Johnny ''Guitar'' Watson
Bow Wow
Synopsis
Jet magazine called him "one of rhythm & blues' most influential musicians." With a career spanning 40 years, Johnny "Guitar" Watson had success in the blues, R&B and jazz fields. But his commercial and artistic apex came with his late '70s and early '80s funk recordings.
Shout! Factory is proud to continue its restoration of his catalog with more deluxe editions of his classic funk albums. Johnny "Guitar" Watson was adept at keeping current, so it's ironic that by the time of this 1994 album, released after a decade's layoff, he was soaking up the sounds of Prince, who had of course been deeply influenced by Watson himself. Bow Wow spawned two R&B charting singles, but Watson's death soon afterwards marked the end of a still-vital music career.
