The Plague Dogs – Release Update

Many of you have emailed us about our upcoming release of The Plague Dogs (Shout Select #41), and we wanted to let you know that we have heard your concerns loud and clear!

Since we announced this title, we have been in contact with the film’s director, Martin Rosen, and are now working with him in the hopes of finding film elements for the original, 103 minute cut of the film (a shortened, 86 minute version was released theatrically).

Because this process will take some time, however, it is necessary for us to move the release date of the Blu-ray. Once we finish this process, we will announce a new release date and The Plague Dogs will be available for pre-order once again.

Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for updates!

  1. OMG why didn’t anyone tell me about this?

I’ve been wanting this ever since I lost the VHS. Just wanted to comment to make sure there’s someone clamoring for this release!

  2. That’s great news! Hope the extended cut works out! Do you have someone writing an essay for a possible booklet to be included? I’m a film critic for Paste Magazine, Indiewire, and The Playlist. This is my favorite animated film of all time. I would love to contribute to this release in any way I can.

  3. I’m really hoping for this release to be the uncut version.
One question I do have… Will the audio be remastered/cleaned up? I only ask this because the audio on the Optimum UK DVD was so bad, I couldn’t hear the dialogue clearly without blowing up my speakers. Really looking forward to this release!

    • We’re still working on this release – so no final audio specs yet.

We should have more information soon.

  4. Yes!!! I am soooo happy that you are going to include the missing portions of the film! I can personally guarantee that you will sell a LOT more copies if you can secure the whole 103 minute directors cut. Brap on ;).

  5. Will you release it in Great Britain? I have the uncut DVD by Optimum but a Blu-ray would be excellent – I hope there will be special features!
