Los Angeles, California – (Tuesday, July 6, 2011) – Shout! Factory announced today an alliance with comedy legend Mel Brooks to produce and distribute THE HISTORY OF MEL BROOKS, Part I, a laugh-filled celebration of Brooks’ illustrious career and life. This multi-DVD box set from Shout! Factory takes viewers on a journey through time with Mel Brooks performances, extensive interviews, film clips and rare archival television footage, as well as photos, critical appreciation and special tributes. This announcement was made by Shout! Factory founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos, and comedian/filmmaker Mel Brooks.
“Mel Brooks is a national treasure and belongs in the pantheon of comic artists alongside Chaplin, Keaton, Marx, Hope and Woody Allen. We are proud to celebrate the man and his work in a unique collection that will entertain fans for years to come,” stated Shout! Factory founding partners.

Shout! Factory begins production this month on THE HISTORY OF MEL BROOKS, PART 1 and is currently developing a full range of unforgettable content and lavish packaging for this new home entertainment property. The multi-DVD box set is slated to debut Spring 2012.
