FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE TO RELEASE FIRST EVER DVD NO BETTER PLACE - LIVE IN CHICAGO: 12/9/2008

"Whatever direction Fountains Of Wayne seems to turn, all points face the sun." - The New York Times

The power pop band Fountains of Wayne will release their first-ever DVD, No Better Place-Live In Chicago, on Shout! Factory on February 24. Filmed in the Windy City in 2005, this concert was shot for broadcast in a widescreen format and recorded in 5.1 Surround to provide an electrifying home viewing experience. Next to actually attending a Fountains show, there’s No Better Place to see this fan favorite.

No Better Place – Live In Chicago captures Fountains of Wayne thrilling the crowd with dynamic career-spanning performances of their hits, including “Mexican Wine,” “Stacy’s Mom,” “Hey Julie,” and “Bright Future In Sales.” The band’s warm, feel-good vibe has long endeared them to fans, and this performance catches them unleashing the hooks and humor that have made them champions of power pop. The DVD also features an all new, never-before seen acoustic mini-set filmed live in the recording studio.

The New York City-based group released their first album in 1996, a highly praised self-titled release which landed the singles "Radiation Vibe" and "Sink To The Bottom" on the Modern Rock charts. It was followed by Utopia Parkway in 1999, which expanded their fanbase and did even more to solidify their standing as perennial critics' favorites. Their smash hit “Stacy’s Mom,” helped bring them a RIAA certified Gold album and two Grammy nominations with Welcome Interstate Managers in 2003. “Stacy’s Mom” reached across several charts, and was the band’s first Top 40 entry. The accompanying music video featured Rachel Hunter as the song's dazzling title character; and it quickly became an MTV and VH1 sensation. The band’s most recent studio release was 2007’s well-received Traffic and Weather.

Fountains of Wayne was formed by Adam Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood, the primary songwriters in the band, who met in 1986 at Massachusetts' Williams College. With a mutual admiration for both melodic pop and classic rock, the two performed together and separately in various bands before adding Jody Porter on guitar and Brian Young on drums, establishing the quartet they would become so well known for in 1996. The band has gone on to win over legions of fans, and has toured extensively at home and internationally for over a decade. Schlesinger has had much success on his own as well, earning Oscar, Tony, and Golden Globe nominations for his film, television and theater work outside the band.
