LOS ANGELES, CA – America’s beloved private eye Inspector Gadget (voiced by the late Don Adams of Get Smart) solved cases and put smiles on faces all across America from 1983-85. The animated TV favorite, which spawned a highly successful Hollywood feature film, introduced the bumbling detective, his case-solving niece Penny, their hyper-intelligent dog Brain, and the menacing Dr. Claw. On April 25th Shout! Factory and DIC Entertainment will release the first 22 episodes of Inspector Gadget®: The Original Series as a four-disc boxed set on DVD for the first time at a suggested retail price of $34.98.
Inspector Gadget takes on the evil Dr. Claw and his henchmen armed with an arsenal of misfiring gadgetry in the 22 episodes included on the boxed set. Though being accident prone makes his boss Chief Quimby nervous, Gadget always manages to solve his cases in the end (though never without the help of Penny and Brain). The inspector’s surprise gadgetry and clumsy tendencies make each episode entertaining for all ages.
The boxed set contains bonus features such as a retrospective look at Inspector Gadget with Andy Heyward (DIC Chairman & CEO) and Mike Maliani (DIC Chief Creative Officer) and an original sketch of Inspector Gadget done by a recent contest winner. Hosted by the Animation Magazine website (www.animationmagazine.net), contestants were invited to submit a drawing of the Inspector Gadget cartoon character (which was judged on creativity, uniqueness and accuracy of the Gadget model by Mike Maliani.)
