While Bobbie Gentry is perhaps best known for her song “Ode To Billie Joe,” her legacy is largely unknown as she only released records from 1967 through 1971 before turning her back on the music industry. She continues as an inspiration to contemporary musicians like Lucinda Williams, Shelby Lynne and Beth Orton.
