Shout! Popcast #24 – (Forever) Neil Diamond

Say it all you want – try to make the claim that Neil Diamond just ain’t cool. So why then, did Urge Overkill cover “Girl, You’ll be A Woman Soon” for Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, and why have such bands as The Band, Elvis Presley, Deep Purple, and even the Monkees covered his songs? Perhaps because since 1966 – when his song “(I’m a) Believer” was the most popular song of the year – his songwriting has continued to inspire and amaze, as generation after generation have realized the timelessness of his work.
