Question about older MST3K releases (with ...

Search Forums:

Greetings All,

I recently purchased the Volume XXI Box Set (MST3K vs. Gamera). I really liked the set, but was a little surprised the original non-MST versions of the films were not included.

The only other experience I had purchasing an MST3K DVD was the original Rhino single "The Beginning of the End" which had both the MST version, and the original film on the other side.

My question is--When did MST sets stop including the original films as extras? Or were they only part of the single releases and noth the box sets? Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you

From what I've gathered they couldn't find orginal copies of Pod People and Cave Dwellers. So they didn't have much of a choice at that point.

Shout Factory knows how to release televsion, now if only they could release Legends Of the HIdden Temple. One can always dream.

Plus, the second box set had Sidehackers, and that one had that rape scene that was cut, so it was probably as good a time as any to end that option.

Of the singles I own, Eegah, The Wild World Of Batwoman, The Crawling Hand, and The Brain That Wouldn't Die have both versions, MST3K and uncut.

Volume 1 is the only box set where you get both versions (Catalina Caper, Bloodlust, The Creeping Terror, and The Skydivers)

I imagine Rhino felt it wasn't very cost effective to put both versions out hence the cessation in that practice.
