Transformers Animated

Search Forums:

i would love for shoutfactory to rerelease the first 2 seasons of transformers animated on dvd and for them to release the 3rd season on dvd. the first 2 seasons are really hard to get and the places that do sell it, sell them at a extremely high price. also, the 3rd season was never released on dvd for some reason.

I don't care for the Unicron trilogy, but this is good news for the fans who liked it.

However, I'm stoked that Transformers Animated is getting re-released on DVD. We may now finally get the 3rd season on DVD. :)

Hopefully, the guys at Shout! will release the episodes in widescreen. If so, I might rebuy seasons 1 and 2.

Now, I'll keep my fingers crossed that Shout! will one day release Transformers: Robots in Disguise on DVD.

Please please PLEASE, Shout!, release a complete series Blu-ray of Transformers Animated. Or at least make sure the DVDs are in original widescreen ratio. That would make me sooo happy :D

Shout! Factory Enters Distribution Agreement for the Unicron Trilogy & Transformers Animated.

That is AWESOME news!  I love love love Transformers Animated.  I had never seen it until the Hub started airing it and absolutely fell in love with it.  I picked up the Allspark almanacs and a few other things from this series.  Unfortunately the dvd's were out of print by that time and also unfinished.

Shout... since we most likely won't be getting blu's of this series (which I would much prefer) at least release these in anamorphic widescreen dvd's please!  Unfortunately fullscreen discs would be a dealbreaker for me.  :(

Can't wait to hear more news on this!!

Rick

That is good news, hopfully we will hear more details soon. Much better chance of complete series releases, and Blu-Ray releases with Shout Factory.

Based on how Shout! has done with their Transformers releases in the past, I am quite sure that Shout! will release a complete series DVD Set.

I would love to get these complete seasons in the US.  I really like this toon a lot!  It's what got me interested in Transformers.

I have all of them captured in HD from my cable, but would buy a blu-ray set of this in a second if it was ever available!!

Rick

The upcoming season 1 DVD release in Australia has been confirmed as widescreen, and there are currently no plans for a Blu-Ray release, due to the costs.

Hmm I wonder if it will include the pre season one mini series

Oh I hope so, il pick up the madmen in a heart bet if they are in widescreen and if they can get the fina season out... finally

Madman Entertainment will be releasing the Transformers Animated series on DVD in the future in Australia, with Season 1 around November 2013 I expect. So looks like Paramount's rights have finally expired, or they are sub-licensing the series out now.

I really hope Madman Entertainment can manage to get the widescreen versions, I'm currently waiting for a response about the aspect ratio on their forums.

Yeah, I'd buy the complete set in HD.  I've been recording them in HD from the Hub and the quality's way better than the SD DVD versions.

Any word mr ward???

RE: Transformers Animated

If love to see this happen! So many of the Transformers series over the years have had lackluster releases, or sporadic at best. I was waiting for season sets or a complete set of this great series which never came. And there's no way to legally get season three. So a lot of people have resorted to hanging on to personal from TV recordings, or download from the net. The expensive (at least in my country) single disc with 3 episodes rubbishy volume releases of the first 1 and a half seasons we got here were terrible. I hope Shout manages to get their hands on this series and do it justice and finally give the fans a complete release!! :)

Bring it!!!

RE: Transformers Animated

Ites probably worth just badgering both parties who hold the right about it. They were able to agree to have the existing 3 dvds released. Not having the 3rd too is just a crime.
But yes Bluray seasons with the restored widescreen format would be awesome

Its all way overdue.

RE: Transformers Animated

I would like to add my voice for a potential Transformers Animated release, if only for the full-screen/wide-screen issue and the fact that Paramount couldn't be bothered to release the final season. I'd also buy Robots in Disguise over Beast Machines or the Unicron Trilogy.

RE: Transformers Animated

^^^ Yes to both of those! BIG yes to Transformer the Movie on Blu-ray and even though I didn't love Beast Machines as much as Beast Wars, it's still WAY better than the Unicron Trilogy, and I'd probably re-buy it if Shout! re-releaed it (Hopefully in a small regular-sized DVD case like their Beast Wars releases).

RE: Transformers Animated

I was also very satisfied with Shout's previous Transformers sets, and would love to see Animated get the Shout treatment (for reasons already mentioned).  I would also like to see the original G1 animated movie on Blu-Ray, and Beast Machines!

RE: Transformers Animated

I would definitely buy (and re-buy) Transformers Animated if Shout! got the rights, I was very impressed with their G1 and Beast Wars sets.

RE: Transformers Animated

I really hope SHOUT will get the license for this show.  I own quite a few SHOUT releases and I know you would give us top-notch dvd's.  I missed quite a bit of T:Prime when they originally aired, but pre-ordered the blu-ray set as soon as it was available and I'm thoroughly enjoying them!  Please let me add T:Animated to my collection soon!!

BTW... when I inserted disc 1 of Transformers:Prime, it wouldn't play in my new Samsung 3d player... just froze.  At first I thought I may have a bad disc.... but I decided to check for a new firmware for the player.  That fixed the problem.  That is the first time I've ever had a disc not play due to firmware issues, but I'm glad to say that it was easily fixed.

RE: Transformers Animated

That may just be a mistake on Brian's part Ukyo, since it isn't a show Shout has, he may not know the history.

It's been confirmed both via some promotional material, and the producers themselves, that Animated was made in 1080p 16:9 with a 4:3 'safe' box.  Only DVDs were made based on the 4:3 TV masters.

1080p 16:9 that would be suitable for BDs (or lower resolution widescreen DVDs) do exist.

Regardless, nice to know there is interest for if it's ever possible for Shout to get.

What a second.. I Have the DVD's and seen the last season on the HD version of Cartoon Network. The HD version makes the DVD's look like they were recorded on VHS Also the DVD's were released in a fullscreen format when the show was made in Wide screen. I wouldn't care if it was DVD or blu ray I would buy the set again if they were in widescreen.

RE: Transformers Animated

If the show were produced in High-Def, it might be something we considered, if we were to get those rights.  But unlike live-action, where there's an infinite amount of detail within the picture, animation only has what's created.  In the case of Transformers: Prime, they've gone all out, going so far as to put specks of dust floating about the frame.  But in the case of Transformers Animated, which is far more akin to traditional animation, it's not going to be that much more revealing than SD.  Not sure the transfer to HD would be worth it.

It's definitely on our list of things we'd love to acquire, but we've not been able to license it, yet.  Maybe one day.

All I want to say is if that day comes just remember one thing. "Blu-Ray"!!!

RE: Transformers Animated

The rights may have reverted back to Hasbro.

RE: Transformers Animated

Paramount distributed season 1 & 2 on DVD, I dont know why they never released season 3 (The best season IMHO). I dont know if Shout! would hacve to acquire distribution rights from Paramount, Hasbro, or another source?

RE: Transformers Animated

Is it true it is owned by both Hasbro and Cartoon Network?
