Just wanted to know if there was any update on when Marcus Welby M.D. season 3 was coming out. I love that show and want to collect all the seasons. Thanks!
Last year, a local TV station carried Marcus Welby M.D. for a few months. I DVR'd several episodes from Seasons 3 and 4. The episodes were relatively new to me, and I was impressed with the content and issues covered. It's disappointing Hollywood doesn't create shows like this anymore.
I would love to see further releases on DVD. One show covered a girl who was learning to walk again after being sick with meningitis. Another episode covered blood typing, and educated the viewers on A,B,AB, and O blood. There were also good episodes on cystic fibrosis and Tay-Sachs disease. Another educating episode was one where a 19 year old girl was left infertile due to an abortion (unfortunately, that happens more often than people think).
I know the studios may not get much of a profit on the sales of a series like Marcus Welby M.D., but I would think shows like Marcus Welby, M.D. would get a new audience on DVD. I did buy Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD, and my favorite episodes were the one about the autistic child (autism was just coming out of the woodwork circa 1969), and the episodes covering hemophilia and leukemia. There were also some good episodes that covered special programs for children with special needs.
Maybe a letter writing campaign to studios will help stir some interest. That way, studios know they can make some kind of a profit. One of my favorite shows was Emergency!, and several firefighters, paramedics, EMT's, nurses, etc. (I'm a former EMT myself ) spearheaded DVD sales. Same goes for Adam-12, where quite a few police officers purchased the DVD's. That's because these shows portrayed a profession in a positive way. Marcus Welby, M.D. was also a positive show.
Something really has to be taken into consideration regarding the "greed" of the studios. They pay A LOT to put stuff onto DVD and/or Blu-ray. If they don't profit from it, they can't continue to do it. It's not a public service that they do for fans. It's a business. And if they can't afford the cost of production on something that isn't going to sell enough to make back the money the spent and even give them a profit, they can't turn around and produce more. It's just not a realistic proposition.
PLease bring Season 3 for Dr Welby MD....while you are at it....might as well produce all episode from all years.
Maybe if these studios would just quit being greedy and just allow classic tv shows to be released for sale and I mean all seasons to be released people would not purchase black market copies which as we know illigal
Yeah what's up shout factory!! This's a great show,it derserves to have all the seasons on dvd! I just don't get it,there's so much garbage being put out on dvd...why are you skipping over great classic shows, like Marcus Welby??? Come on guys lets see season 3 and 4!!!
I just wanted to add my "Me too!" to the list of people wanting the full 7 seasons. I am so grateful that you made seasons one and two. I grew up with the good doctor and remember to this day some of my favorite episodes.
Any chance we'll be seeing season three in the near future?
Please, Shout Select, please, please! (bump)
It seems there are several copies of the same set being sold as "complete" 169 episodes which turn out to have 156 and at least a handful of them are of questionable quality. Most of us understand that this would need to be a Shout Select offering, we just implore you to finish all seven seasons. Thank you!
Bring it on!
Me five (or whatever the count is up to now)!
I've been anxiously awaiting Season 3 of Marcus Welby. I think I have watched both Seasons 1 and 2 about 3 times already. Any word on this? I especially thought the later seasons were excellent and can't wait until it's their turn to be released.
Brian stated on the "70's page that as far as he knew Shout wasn't working on this at all right now.
Me four!!! Awesome show!!
