With the news that Disney doesn't own Power Rangers anymore is there any chance this is something Shout may consider going after?

RE: Power Rangers

I loved 'Power Rangers' growing up, the first one ever and some of the other series growing up. I was so disappointed to hear no company has ever released any of them, except the new ones, which ****!. first one, Wild Force, Time Force, Lost Galaxy are all amazing!. SHOUT I would love you all if you released these along with "Mummies Alive", "Cybersix", "Digimon" etc on DvD!!!.

DOUCHEBAGS

They are hindering the progress of the Format massivly

Why can't they make an exception to TV shows after all many where shot on 16 mm Film and even when higher nobody boders to remaster them for High Def , in many cases fans should be glad that they are out at all

RE: Power Rangers

Mike962, the Blu-ray Disc Association, which administers the BD format globally (and collects license fees from every company that puts a BD product into stores), is dead set against devaluing the format by allowing commercial products developed the way you describe. Blu-ray is meant to be a high definition format, not a "big storage medium" for lots of SD content.

As the German releases of MMPR have proven, it's entirely possible to do season set releases for this show on a reasonable number of DVDs, at an affordable price. This past spring, Haim Saban re-acquired the Power Rangers brand he had launched a couple of decades ago, so DVD rights for the USA are back in his hands.  He can license those DVD rights as he sees fit.  I know of several third-party studios who have expressed interest in those rights.  We'll have to see how things fall out!

Brian seriously now Power Rangers the first season alone of Mighty Morphin had about 60 episodes Wouldn't my idea be good to release such a show in SD on Blu Ray because otherwise it would take a gazillion DVD discs....

RE: Power Rangers

This certainly is a show that I grew up worshiping and would love to own it on DVD courtesy of Shout!  It still boggles my mind that Disney would drop the ball on releasing them State side as opposed to the lucky folks in Germany who were treated to a DVD release.  This is a show that defined mine, as well as many others', 90s childhood.  The idea of Shout! getting there hands on a hot property like this and producing it justice for the fans would be mind blowing.  I'm beyond curious to see if something unfolds.  Let's make this happen!

RE: Power Rangers

Anthony, I'm pretty sure you can rest assured that every time I see your name I'll know what you're saying without even clicking on the link.  You'll be pissed if there's no closed captioning.  Got it.  We'll certainly see what we can do on as many of our titles in the future.

RE: Power Rangers

Man I've been wanting to get the old seasons on dvd... I know that Season 1 to 6 have been released in Germany with english audio... I was considering buying these sets and using a region free dvd player... But now that there is a chance that it might be released over here, I'll wait and see what happens... I honestly hope Shout Factory releases the seasons...

RE: Power Rangers

Closed Caption is a MUST! It's important for deaf people to understand what are they saying. If they don't put closed caption on DVD, I'll be VERY PISSED.

RE: Power Rangers

So, any truth to the rumor that Shout will be releasing Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on DVD?

RE: Power Rangers

Lurked in here a few times but finally decided to join to express my thoughts. You guys getting the DVD rights and releasing Power Rangers would definitely be awesome. Disney never fully took advantage of it. 27-year old guy here who would very much buy the older series (and the newer ones to see what I missed). I work at a Walmart as a toy dept mgr and the new Mighty Morphin figures have flown off the shelves (minus some Trinis, Jasons and Goldars) and quite a few to adults with spending cash.

Saban has it back, and plans to release it on Nickelodeon.

RE: Power Rangers

This isn't good news at all for deaf people who used to watch Power Rangers. What about closed captioning?

I watched Power Rangers since I was a kid, grew up all the way up to Power Rangers R.P.M.

Even tho, if there is a plan to release Power Rangers on DVD, they NEED to put closed captioning on!

RE: Power Rangers

We are aware the rights have left Disney.  And it would totally be something we're interested in looking into.  Who knows?  Could be fun.
