Audio issue with the Final Sacrifice, ...

Search Forums:

I was wondering if anyone else has run into a digital noise issue around 26:38 in the Final Sacrifice?  There is another one a few minutes before then but that one is the most noticeable.  I've checked the disc for defects but can't find any.

Not a huge problem but a little annoying.

Thanks,

Doug

Please don't think me anal (though this probably is totally anal) but 19 is XIX in Roman Numerals.

Shout Factory! has done an awesome job so far on these releases. I can understand not being able to fix a video roll or another visual anomaly...but I was able to fix the audio pop pretty simply on my own (I am totally anal and OCD about things like that) using my own software and roll it back to DVD. If it is a matter of cost and time spent fixing such things don't hesitate to ask the fans. We work cheap when it comes to our favorite cow town puppet show.

I have a small before and after video file of the glitch and my fix if you want to see it.

Speaking as a retailer a disclaimer on the packaging explaining there might be occasional anomalies in the source material would be nice. I haven't had any returns or complaints yet about this set but it would be nice to know ahead of time in general that it is a known issue so I don't exchange sets for no reason for customers. Or worse they think we have bum discs and go to a competitor!

Anyway keep up the awesome work and hurry up and announce vol. XVIIII. XIX.

Ah, cool.  It's not a big deal considering I now get to see Zap in all his digital glory!

Thanks for the info!

Thanks for letting us know. My set is in transit from Amazon. Now I know not to worry about this little issue. And please keep those episodes coming regardless of the condition of the masters. The quality overall of the Shout! releases of MST3K has been terrific.

RE: Audio issue with the Final Sacrifice, MST3K - Voulme XVII

This was an issue with the original master and could not be fixed in encoding or authoring, unfortunately.  Sadly, the conditions of some of these masters, seeing as how they are 20-year old 1" sources, are not very good.  You definitely find little things like this sound pop and the occasional visible tape roll within the episodes.  Hopefully, it's not too distracting, but it's necessary in order to fill the demand for some of these episodes.

I'll try to keep you up to date on any issues that arise with future episodes.

Brian
