Dear Shout Factory, Please consider releasing season 3 of Petticoat Junction on DVD. This is the first color season of the show as the first two seasons were B&W. Many thanks! Michael
I, for one, salute you Ben Casey, it would be great to have an uncut set of color P.J. shows. I also recorded P.J. off of TV Land when it was on in the U.S., unfortunately the U.S. TV Land did not show uncut episodes, so while I'm happy to have transferred them on DVD and am able to see them in order now (TV Land never showed the episodes in order, when I transferred them to DVD I put them in the right order) I wish I had uncut versions. So here's a big toot on the Cannonball for you, OK Floyd, let 'er rip!
For PJ fans - - If you don't already know a true CD has just been released for "The Girls From Petticoat Junction" -- including their rare singles, plus unreleased tracks and solo singles from Linda Kaye, Lori and Meredith -- plus the Curt Massey theme single!!! It's incredibly good and available on Amazon (a real CD not just downloads!!!).
AND NOBODY CARES THAT YOU DON'T CARE. WHO CARES IF YOU SPEND ALL YOUR TIME TAPING TV SHOWS? YOU THINK THAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL ENOUGH TO RUB IN PEOPLE'S FACES? ALL IT MAKES YOU SEEM LIKE IS A LOSER, LOSER!
I got a complete run of the color seasons recorded for me from TV Land Canada, complete and uncut. So, I don't care that it won't be coming out.
I agree completely with the above comment. I seldom watch any current shows at all.
I wish that they would release the final seasons of The Beverly Hillbillies & Petticoat Junction. I would also like to see the release of Eight is Enough. There are so many good shows from the 60, 70 & 80 that are just sitting on shelves and collecting dust. I very seldom watch tv now. I do not like all these reality show and I do not care who goes to bed with who. The old shows had a plot and they were funny. They would actually make you laugh. I just do not understand why paramount & sony and others do not release these old shows on dvd. I will buy them in a second.
I was amazed that "The Beverly Hillbillies" wasn't a big seller with every season on DVD early in the era of TV on DVD, the same way shows like "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Bewitched" easily finished their series. In its day, "Hillbillies" was as popular as those shows, for sure. I can't figure out went went wrong.
What happened is that CBS waited too damn long. If that had started putting the show out in the early 2000s instead of waiting, it would have sold much better. Instead, it took them about 7 years too long and by that time the DVD market had gotten over-saturated and it didn't sell.
I'll second that.
CBS/Paramount owns it and they were supposed to release S3 in 2010 but then they decided not to. They were putting more money into The Lucy Show instead and cutting back on some other older properties, it seems.
I agree with everyone else...Season 3 and 4 of Petticoat Junction needs to be realeased by now...These are the colored version ones and with Lori Saunders as the new Bobbi-Joe...Hope Shout Factory can get a hold of these! Who owns the rights to Petticoat Junction anyways and why is it so hard to get season 3 and 4 on dvd to be released? Thanks.
The only thing that bugged me in the two sets was they cut the audio out a second too soon on the introduction for each episode on the season 2 release. Very good releases overall for a great show. Wish they'd start releasing the color seasons.
CBS/Paramount did a superb job with Petticoat Junction seasons 1 & 2, and The Beverly Hillbillies seasons 2 & 3 (M.P.I. released season 1), with complete season sets, and a few extras, just like they're currently doing with The Lucy Show. I was so disappointed when they just abandoned these two series, and even if they went back to them, would they split the seasons like they've done with many of their other shows? Would the music be edited or replaced? If SHOUT! got the rights to these shows they would be done Right!!! Green Acres (which is owned by MGM) too!!!!!
I'm waiting for Petticoat Junction too!!!!!! Hope it's soon, almost done with season 2, but I would like all the reamining seasons at once. Do you think that's too much to ask for?
I would stay at the Shady Rest, I would like to pick up the remaining seasons. If CBS doesn't want to continue the releases, Shout Factory should!!
paramount sets **** they are chopped up bad.sf does their shows uncut.
I am certainly ready to pre-order.....
I think something must have happened with the production of the DVDs. It seems for all Paul Henning Shows they never get the color episodes out. But they sure put an huge rus on all of the B&W episodes.
I'm hopeful CBS/Paramount will continue it. But it sure appears stalled.
I also worry/wonder how they'd handle the later seasons. Especially season 4 onwards after Meredith MacRae joined the cast, singing became much more critical to the show and the plots of quite a few episodes. Some of those songs even were released on record labels back in the day.
I hope it won't be a problem, since we all known CBS would just chop it apart if there was the slightest hint there would be copyright issues or if they'd have to actually pay to license a song (Unthinkable by CBS/Paramount these days).
