A Kind, New Blu-ray
There’s nothing kinder than a Grateful Dead release — unless we’re talking about the first-ever Blu-ray edition of the classic The Grateful Dead Movie. This 2-disc set features the original film on Blu-ray on Disc 1; that is, the Jerry Garcia-directed film featuring performances from five Winterland Ballroom concerts in ’74. Disc 2, a DVD, takes it a step further with over 95 minutes of additional concert footage, plus a menu that allows visible on-screen lyrics karaoke-style and loads of others goodies. The set releases officially on November 1, but you can preorder it from ShoutFactory.com and get a free limited-edition bumper sticker with purchase, and receive it two weeks before it hits stores. |
Casper, The Friendliest Of Ghosts
There are the Oogie Boogies of the world, then there are the Caspers. We’ll take the latter ’cause we prefer our ghosts with a smile and a giggle. And it’s for that reason that we show a toothy grin for the Casper The Friendly Ghost Collection. The 3-DVD set includes all 81 cartoons created between 1945–63 in one complete collection for the first time, plus a 20-page book, a gallery of comic book covers and more. Order today for the October 11 release. |

Oh Well, Whatever, Nevermind.
Can you believe that that sentence is 20 years old? That means those tatted cheerleaders are 20 years older too. There’s one to think on. There’s a point here, however. Nirvana’s Nevermind celebrates its platinum anniversary this year, making it an appropriate time to revisit the story of the band’s ascent. Narrated by Kurt himself, Kurt Cobain About A Son tells the whole story, from the beginning. Check out the DVD or Blu-ray at the Shout! store. |

On 9/21 Web radio show Stu’s Show hosted members of the cast of Dennis The Menace: Jay North, Gloria Henry and Jeannie Russell. The interview lives in their archives. Shucks, Mr. Wilson! |
