Transforming The Beast & Headmasters
OK, Transformers fans. This is what you’ve been waiting for. We have officially secured the rights to bring you additional Transformers DVDs. Later this year, we’ll release two 4-disc sets: Transformers Beast Wars and Transformers Takara Collection: Headmasters. <insert “woohoos” and “heck yeahs” here> and complete series collections. This is the first time the Headmasters series is available in the U.S., and it all came together because you asked for it . . . at Comic-Con, Bot-Con and through our site. We’ll have more details as we get closer to releasing them, but we wanted to end rumor and speculation with an official confirmation here.
Loudon’s 40 Odd Years
Loudon Wainwright III has been entertaining us for, well, 40 odd years or so. So it makes perfect sense that he’d name his first career-retrospective box set that very phrase. 40 Odd Years is a 4-CD/1-DVD set that includes such favorites as “The Man Who Couldn’t Cry” from 1973’s Attempted Mustache (a song Johnny Cash would later cover with producer Rick Rubin), the genuinely odd “Dead Skunk” and highlights from his most recent projects, including cuts from the Grammy®-winning album High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project. The three-hour-plus DVD includes an extremely rare documentary made for Dutch television titled One Man Guy, TV appearances on the BBC, Saturday Night Live and Austin City Limits, as well as several unreleased concert performances. Included in the box set is a 40-page book featuring an essay by journalist/author David Wild and an introduction by filmmaker and box set coproducer Judd Apatow. The set is out May 3, but you can preorder from Shout! now to receive a limited-edition signed book. There are only 200, so act fast!
Iggy Pop Bootlegged!
“Official” bootleg, that is, which is still pretty dang cool. We’re quite pleased to be releasing a second title in our “bootleg” series, following the very well-received Emerson Lake & Palmer: A Time And A Place. Iggy Pop: Roadkill Rising: The Bootleg Collection 1977–2009 is a 4-CD set of newly remastered live tracks. The set is sequenced by decade and focuses on key songs by The Stooges as well as tracks culled from Pop’s extensive solo catalog, including his hits and an array of covers. As a bonus, we’re offering a limited-edition fifth CD when you order from ShoutFactory.com. Live In San Francisco – November 27, 1979 is a previously unreleased Iggy concert CD not available anywhere else, and it’s limited to 400 numbered copies. The set officially streets on May 17.
Teddy Pendergrass In ’82
One of the most sought-after Teddy Pendergrass performances finally makes its way to DVD. Live In ’82features Teddy in his prime, belting out hits from his four platinum albums at London’s Hammersmith Odeon. The set includes nine tracks plus an additional three bonus songs. Look for it on March 29.
