The Countdown to Comic-Con Is On
Oh yes! Less than a month away from the world’s biggest,
baddest pop culture event! Comic-Con 2006 opens its San Diego doors on July 19
and Shout! Factory is ready to groove. We’ve doubled our booth size this year
AND tripled our talent! This year, we’re very excited to have Brendon Small and Loren Bouchard from Home Movies at our booth, as
well as the creative forces behind IFC’s Greg The Bunny (who also have a panel) and [drum roll] …Mr. Rob
Corddry of “The Daily Show,” promoting the new Shout! DVD Blackballed:
The Bobby Dukes Story (in stores same week.)
As always, we’ll have lots of cool prizes to give away on our Free Swag
Prize Wheel, as well as the Shout! Booty Call treasure chest, which will again be filled with
loads of CDs and DVDs from your favorite entertainment company. That’s Shout!,
by the way. Visit http://www.comic-con.org/index.php for more info. We’ll be hanging out in booth #5463.

What Is Going On?
August
29 marks the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the devastation of
New Orleans. In remembrance of this event, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band revisits the classic Marvin Gaye album, putting
their own New Orleans twist on the tunes. The subject is near and dear to the
band members, as they also lost their homes to Katrina. Joining DDBB on the
reinterpretation is a bevy of guests, including Chuck D, Ivan Neville, G. Love, Guru and Bettye LaVette. The CD is out on 8/29 with Shout! donating a
portion of its proceeds to the Tipitina’s Foundation, benefiting the music
community of New Orleans.
