The Blues Explosion Explodes!
The year 2010 will bring a full-blown reissue campaign for the gritty garage goodness that is Jon Spencer Blues Explosion via our Majordomo label imprint. The first CD in the series is Dirty Shirt Rock ’N’ Roll: The First Ten Years, a 22-track compilation, out March 30. This initial release will be followed by the band’s original albums, all remastered with rare and unreleased bonus tracks, new liner notes and photos. Billboard broke the story here.
Congratulations To Our GRAMMY® Noms!
Daryl Hall and John Oates have received their first Grammy nomination since 1983 for the recently recorded version of “Sara Smile” on our Live At The Troubadour CD/DVD. They share the accolade for “Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals” with such worthy competitors as The Black Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi, The Fray and MGMT. We can’t speak for Sara, but a first-ever Grammy win for the duo would surely make us smile. Good luck! Also, their Live At The Troubadour special is making its rounds on public television nationally. Contact your local station to request the show.
Twist And Shout For The T.A.M.I. Show
We’re gearing up for the release of an historic concert that has topped many a “want” list. The T.A.M.I. Show: Collector’s Edition features some of the biggest artists playing for a one-off concert in Santa Monica, CA, in 1964. The set features performances by The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, James Brown And The Flames, Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson And The Miracles, The Supremes, Jan & Dean and more! This legendary film has never been available on DVD and hasn’t been seen in its entirety since it originally appeared in theaters, including its “world premiere” at Los Angeles–area theaters in November 1964. The Collector’s DVD also includes a new commentary by director Steve Binder, original T.A.M.I. Show radio spots and a 20-page book with liner notes and rare photos and memorabilia. VH1 ranked it #15 on the “100 Greatest Moments in Rock History.” You’ll see why on March 23.
