Spookiness Abounds
It’s almost October, which means that our little office imps are prepping to decorate Shout! HQ in true haunted office fashion. It also means that we’re coming up on the release of Audition and The Stepfather. Both release in early October, and we couldn’t be more scared. Audition is a Japanese film celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year, and this modern classic tops all the right lists for horror films. For instance, Entertainment Weekly named it the #1 “Best Horror Movie of the Past 20 Years”; it’s #3 on Quentin Tarantino’s “Favorite Movies Made Since 1992”; and Bravo named it in its “100 Scariest Movie Moments” (it even creeped out Rob Zombie!). Enjoy the DVD and Blu-ray on 10/6.

Then there’s The Stepfather, which has a more ominous tone and a remake hitting theaters on October 16th! Terry O’Quinn of Lost stars in this thriller about a man who is in search of the perfect all-American family… even if he has to kill to get it. His buttoned-up persona slowly unravels as the film progresses, eventually showing us the delicious insanity inside. Fantastic! Its DVD debut is 10/13.

Reunited And It Feels So Good
Some of you might remember that when we first unleashed a Mystery Science Theater 3000 collection, the original run included a Crow T. Robot figurine. Well, it’s been a year, and we’ve heard over and over again just how lonely that little guy is. He’s in need of a friend, a partner in crime, one might say. We’re pleased to inform him that his long wait is almost over. MST3K Vol. XVI is on the horizon and will indeed include a limited-edition Tom Servo figurine. Here’s a picture of how we imagine this will work out on your shelves. Heart not included. Oh, and the set will contain four DVD debuts as well: The Corpse Vanishes, Warrior Of The Lost World, Santa Claus and Night Of The Blood Beast. Available 12/15.

Speaking Of Robots…
We’re about to bestow upon you the highest technology that the 1980s brought to weekly situational comedy. Enter Vicki. She’s fantastic, made of plastic, with microchips here and there. She’s a Small Wonder and will be joining the Shout! Factory DVD library in early 2010. Look for Season One in February.

They Walk Alike And Talk Alike And…
Collect Their Retirement Benefits Alike!?!

What a crazy pair! Social Security recently launched its “Retire Online” campaign with the help of celebrated TV identical cousins Patty and Cathy Lane (The Patty Duke Show) to let Americans know that it’s now easier than ever to retire online. You can check out five new public service announcements featuring Patty Duke as cousins Patty and Cathy Lane. And don’t forget that The Patty Duke Show: Season One is out on DVD next week!

Micro Werks Feeds Your Nostalgia Too!
As you know, Shout! Factory often digs deep to reward your pop culture cravings. However, there’s a new company on the horizon that we feel compelled to fill you in on: our friends at Micro Werks. They’ve recently released a number of CD and DVD gems, including the following DVDs: Hobgoblins, Hobgoblins 2, My Dinner With Jimi, Vampire Chronicles V.01-04 and others, which are all available here. On the audio side they've released the lost solo album by Barry Goldberg (the one produced by Mr. Bob Dylan), The Best Of The Five Man Electrical Band and lots more. For a list of CDs, visit here. You can stay on top of Micro Werks’ release schedule by becoming a fan of their facebook page, which is the place to go to keep up with what’s next

Ciao My Shining Star News
There’s a lot of excitement abounding in regards to next week’s release of Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs Of Mark Mulcahy, so this seemed like a great time to update you.

For starters, Michael Stipe, who is one of the many phenomenal artists lending his talents to the project, recently posted a message on remhq.com, adding another level to his much-appreciated support.

Additionally, he and Mark Mulcahy were interviewed for a fantastic Newsweek feature. Read it online here.

iTunes went live with the album last week, offering a deluxe version for purchase, as well as the standard version.

Lastly, RollingStone.com posted the stunning video to Thom Yorke’s “All For The Best,” which can be viewed here.
