Shout! Factory: More Than Meets The Eye
Are you ready to be transformed? We are. We have officially partnered with Hasbro to release the original Transformers cartoon, “Gen 1” per the fanboys, plus the original G.I. Joe and the direct-to-DVD My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure. The first release is The Transformers: The Complete First Season 25th Anniversary Edition DVD box set, which comes out on June 16th. The 3-disc set includes episodes that have been restored to the original broadcast versions with a new stereo soundtrack that was created from the original audio, a printable script, a rare PSA and more. However… if you’re a hardcore fan, you’re going to want the super-special 16-DVD The Transformers: 25th Anniversary “Matrix of Leadership” Edition Collector’s Set, which contains over 38 hours of content, including the entire original animated “G1” series, a bounty of stellar extras and a special collectible book. This one is expected to be available by Comic Con 2009.

Paul Simon: Love Him ’Cause He Rocks
Paul Simon And Friends is a fantastic concert honoring the estimable decades-spanning artist. The concert was held in 2007 when the Library of Congress awarded Simon the first-ever Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Attending—and performing—at the event were such noteworthies as Marc Anthony, Shawn Colvin, Art Garfunkel, Alison Krauss, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Lyle Lovett, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder and a host of others, including Paul Simon himself. The special is currently airing on PBS to rapturous audiences. We’re releasing the DVD on 5/19 and will include a 24-page booklet based on the original Library of Congress event program.

John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band’s only recorded concert, Live In Toronto ’69, is coming to Shout! DVD on June 23. Filmed on the eve of the release of Abbey Road, this concert features Lennon paying homage to a couple of his heroes with covers of “Blue Suede Shoes,” and “Dizzy Miss Lizzy,” playing some Beatles (“Yer Blues” and “Money”) and the now-classic “Give Peace A Chance.” Also included on the disc is an interview with Yoko Ono from 1988. It’s a great addition to any collection!
Shout! Factory has garnered a Parents’ Choice Award for our beloved Jane And The Dragon: A Dragon's Tale DVD release. The animated program won a 2009 Parents’ Choice Silver Award. Additionally, two of our recent children’s CD reissues also received recognition: Burl Ives Favorites For Children – Classic and Carly & Lucy Simon Sing Songs For Children – Recommended. We’re very honored.

One of the cool extras on our April 28 release of the antiwar cult film Johnny Got His Gun is a 1940 radio adaptation starring James Cagney. The half-hour drama comes to us from www.radiospirits.com, where you can listen to many other old-time radio classics.
In honor of Humor Month—we also like to call it April—we’ve reduced all our comedy titles by 20 percent. Now’s the time to pick up releases by Jeffrey Ross, Robin Williams, Dana Gould and more. The complete listing is available here.
