Happy holidays! We wanted to start this, our last newsletter of ’08, with a big “thank you.” It’s been an amazing year at Shout! Factory, and we’re so grateful for the caliber of CD and DVD titles we’ve been able to release. Likewise, we’re appreciative of our shoutfactory.com customers and newsletter subscribers. For the duration of December, we’re offering a 20-40% discount off select CD and DVD box sets. Click here for the list, which includes the 8-DVD Freaks And Geeks Yearbook Edition, the 13-disc Home Movies 10th Anniversary Box Set and many more. Also, we created this fun holiday card — click to view.

The Airborne Toxic Event . . . Events
This has indeed been a great year for The Airborne Toxic Event, and we wind up 2008 with more great news for the L.A.-based quintet. We’re ecstatic that iTunes not only voted "Sometime Around Midnight" Best Alternative Song of 2008, and the band itself one of the Top 10 New Alternative Bands of 2008, but their album has also been selected for their upcoming Alternative Rock sale, 12/23-1/12. The video for "Sometime Around Midnight" is also on iTunes, and the CD is on sale on Amazon. So make sure you use that iTunes gift card properly! Plus, see the band live on the Late Show With David Letterman on January 13. And if you like what you see, catch them live on tour starting in February. We totally agree with the L.A. Weekly: "Absurdly rich with talent. Live the group delivers total cohesion and unflappable energy."
GRAMMY® Comes A-Knocking for Solomon Burke and Mickey Hart
We are very proud to have two repeat GRAMMY nominees for the 2009 honors: Solomon Burke’s Like A Fire is nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Album, while Mickey Hart’s Global Drum Project is up for Best Contemporary World Music Album. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Solomon Burke last took the honors with 2002’s Don’t Give Up On Me. Mickey Hart, however, set the standards for world music by winning the very first Grammy in that category in 1991. Global Drum Project is the long-awaited follow-up to its predecessor and again teams the Grateful Dead percussionist with Indian tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain. We wish both artists the best of luck!
Gifts With Purchase
This is a new section we’re adding to our newsletter in which we let you know about special “gifts with purchase” available at retailers nationwide. We hope you enjoy!
- Get a limited-edition Matthew Sweet autographed 7x7 litho with purchase of the vinyl version of Sunshine Lies at indie retailers.
- Get an exclusive HighTone Records sampler with the purchase of any HighTone CD at your local independent retailer.
- There are still a handful of limited-edition 2008 World Series pennants at FYE stores in the Philly market.
From everyone at Shout!, have a very happy holiday. We’ll see you in 2009. |
