Nashville Comes Home to Nashville
Solomon Burke returned to the studio earlier this year to record the follow up to his 2005 Shout!
record Make Do With What You Got. The new disc was recorded in Nashville with Buddy Miller (actually in Miller’s home!) and is appropriately named Nashville. This new set, which Time magazine calls “Unmissable,” features some of country
music’s greatest starlets, including Patty Griffin, Gillian Welch, Emmylou
Harris, Dolly Parton, and Patty
Loveless. If you’re in the area, catch Burke
and Miller live in the album’s namesake town on September 25 at the Belcourt
Theater. Tickets are available here: http://tickets.belcourt.org.

Good Music Guarantees Good Karma
We don’t need that Carson
what’s-his-face teaching us about the concept of karma— we’re living it!
Shout’s latest contribution to the karma factor comes in the form of the My
Name Is Earl soundtrack. Out September 19,
the CD includes songs heard in the show, as well as a few inspired by it.
Included are new recordings by Matthew Sweet (“Livin’ Thing”), Uncle Kracker (“The Weight”) and John Hiatt (“Instant Karma”), plus favorites by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Sammy Davis, Jr.
Season Two premieres that same week on NBC, so be sure to tune in to catch Earl,
Joy and Randy’s latest antics. Listen to clips from the album at http://www.flashenhanced.com/mynameisearl/

Turn On, Tune In and Rock Out
These excellent words to live by are taken to heart on the
latest Tomorrow Show DVD release, Tom
Snyder’s Electric Kool-Aid Talk Show. The
new disc features the Grateful Dead, plus Dr. Timothy Leary, and authors Ken
Kesey (One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest) and Tom Wolfe (The
Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test). The
highlight of the disc has to be the performance by the Dead, who play four
songs never before available on DVD: “On The Road Again,” “Cassidy,” “Dire
Wolf” and “Deep Elem Blues.” The band members then sit down for a chat with Mr.
Snyder. Priceless! Look for it on September 26.

There’s something About Harry
Back in 1952, renowned musicologist, filmmaker and painter
