It’s A Man's Man's Man's 3-DVD Set
James Brown was one of the most important musical figures of the 20th century, a pioneer of soul, the inventor of funk and a galvanic showman. But until now, concert footage from his ’60s prime years has been hard—if not impossible—to find. Shout! Factory rectifies that with the release of the 3-DVD set I Got The Feelin’: James Brown In The ’60s, which features the director’s cut of the acclaimed VH1 special The Night James Brown Saved Boston as well as the full-length concert performances James Brown Live At The Boston Garden, April 5, 1968 and Man To Man: James Brown Live At The Apollo Theater 1968, plus a bunch of extras. Get your copy on August 5, and then get down wit’ yo’ bad self!
We Got Your Code Monkeys Right Here
The cartoon graphics mirror early ’80s video games, while the dialogue and scenarios reek of South Park. Those elements combined equal Code Monkeys, the G4 network hit that is gearing up for its second season. Shout! Factory is jumping over barrels and powering up in anticipation of Season One’s 2-DVD release on August 5. Not only does it include the entire 8-bit first season, but loads of extras round it out. Code Monkeys is a great dose of ’80s nostalgia in an ever-changing Wii world. Don’t forget to tune in to the Season Two premiere on G4 on Sunday, June 1.

News like that is best served without mincing words. Yes, there’s a brand-new Matthew Sweet album coming via Shout! Factory and, though Sunshine Lies, we won’t. It’s an amazing kaleidoscopic power-pop masterwork and a must-have for any Sweet fan! Sunshine Lies will be available in a plethora of formats: CD, download, and 2-LP vinyl (the last of which features an entire side of unreleased songs, not to mention a copy of the CD tucked inside the gatefold cover).
