Corks Popped In Honor Of The Airborne Toxic Event
All of us here at Shout! recognize that we have it made, working for a great company and on so many fantastic releases. But things just got a little sweeter with the signing of Los Angeles-based The Airborne Toxic Event, or T.A.T.E. as they’re known around the office. The band signed with Shout! imprint label Majordomo Records last week, amidst bottles of champagne and a mini acoustic set by the quintet. Their single “Sometime Around Midnight” is getting loads of radio play on L.A.’s KROQ and Indie 103.1, as well as San Francisco’s Live 105 and countless other stations nationally. Mosey on over to their MySpace page for a sampling. The full-length album is slated for a July 15 release.
Solomon Burke Blazes On New Record
The King of Rock ’n’ Soul returns in ’08 with a brand-new album, Like A Fire, which features new songs written exclusively for Solomon by Eric Clapton, Keb’ Mo’, Jesse Harris and Ben Harper, who also lends his vocals to “A Minute To Rest And A Second To Pray.” Look for Like A Fire on June 10.
Earlimart Presents Hymn And Her
The first Majordomo signing, L.A.’s Earlimart, releases the highly anticipated Hymn And Her on July 1. The album comes almost directly on the heels of 2007’s critically acclaimed Mentor Tormentor and was recorded in only four weeks. This new one is one of their most diverse records yet, with lyrics that delve deeper into the “Him” and “Her” of the band, a.k.a. Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray. Be sure to catch Mentor’s “Happy Alone” in ads for FX’s The Riches this season. That’s Ariana on the mic! Earlimart embarks on a tour this summer. More details to follow!
2007 World Series™ Champs: Boston Red Sox
The major highlights in Red Sox history are recounted and relived on a new MLB DVD titled Red Sox Memories. The program chronicles the greatest moments in Boston’s 107-year history and includes such players as Cy Young, Carlton Fisk and David Ortiz. This disc is loaded with bonus material, including Carl Yastrzemski’s National Baseball Hall of Fame™ speech highlights, Pedro Martinez’s 1999 MLB All-Star Game performance and Ted Williams’ MLB All-Century Team Vignette.
