An Ironclad DVD for Ironside
After Perry Mason, Raymond Burr found himself yearning for some more good old-fashioned law and order. Thus Ironside was born, airing a year after its nine-year long predecessor wrapped. The first season, now a whopping 8-DVD box set, arrives on shelves on 4/24. The deluxe set features 28 episodes, plus the special feature-length film that started it all. Loads of guests graced the first season, including a young Harrison Ford (this was 1967), Bruce Lee, Jack Lord and David Carradine. By the way, if eight discs is more Burr than you can handle, a 2-DVD version (five episodes and the initial film) is also available.

Keiko’s Moyo Is Rising
Keiko Matsui recently recorded her first self-produced album, Moyo (out 4/24). The jazz veteran traveled the globe for this one, heavily influenced by the rhythm and sounds of South Africa, where she recorded with local musicians. Also appearing on Moyo are legendary trumpeter Hugh Masekela, sax player Gerald Albright, soprano sax player Paul Taylor, bassist/vocalist Richard Bona, drummer Akira Jimbo and vocalist Waldemar Bastos. The single, “Black River,” is currently smoothing up jazz radio, while Keiko takes her show on the road. Check out this e-card for tour dates, audio samples and more:

Shout! Factory Claims a Sweet Warrior
Legendary guitarist and performer Richard Thompson joins the Shout! family with the upcoming release of Sweet Warrior, his latest plugged-in masterpiece. The track that has everyone from the Huffington Post to USA Today and the Washington Post talking is “Dad’s Gonna Kill Me,” a politically charged statement on the war overseas, in which “Dad” is an abbreviated form of “Baghdad.” Pre-order the CD now for a 5/29 release date. Showtime Gets Fired Up
Actor Annabelle Gurwitch obviously subscribes to the old adage that art imitates life, as she took her experience of being fired by Woody Allen and turned it into a hysterical documentary. The film, which features many, many stories of being professionally jilted, is currently running on Showtime before landing on Shout! DVD on 6/5. Sharing their pink slip faux pas are Tim Allen, David Cross, Andy Dick, Bob Odenkirk, Harry Shearer, Sarah Silverman, Ben Stein and others.

The Glamorous World of Slade … Revisited
One Slade release just wasn’t enough. We decided to dig a little deeper into the Brit rockers’ catalog and pull out some lesser-known gems. The final product, In For A Penny: Raves & Faves, features 15 stand-out tracks, like the b-side “Wonderin’ Y” and album tracks “How D’You Ride” and “Do We Still Do It.” It’s out now, so put yer boots on and pick it up today!
