However Kidd Video could be released on DVD in a manner simalar to what has been done with Alvin & the Chipmunks which had the same music rights issues as Kidd Video does. The thing is that since both shows has the songs sang by cover bands(the characters on the shows) it's much easier to get the rights to the actual song itself than it is to buy the song as performed by the original artist. I learned this fact in an interview with director Cameron Crowe (Alomst Famous, Jerry Magurie) he stated that it was easier buying the Beatles songs and paying another band to record them for the movie, than to by the Beatles songs performed by the Beatles. This way Shout! could go after particular episodes and release them in individual volumes and not have to charge the fans an insane amount of money for them.
As for Hammerman, if my memory serves me. I believe that most of the music for the cartoon was either original or is the same case as Kidd Video and Alvin and the Chipmunks. |

The best thing going for it is that the songs aren't by the original artists, but that's only slightly cheaper. I just don't know that we'd be able to do it justice, because there would inevitably be songs that we couldn't afford.

I did some research posting on various messege boards and found this out about the music situation for Kidd Video, curtousy of Wikipedia;
Although most of the songs that Kidd Video performed were written by the show's creators, "A Little TLC" was co-written by Lynsey De Paul and Terry Britten.
When the series was re-run in syndication in later years, all the music videos had to be removed to avoid paying royalties. The pop music that played in the background during certain animated sequences was replaced using original songs played by the band.
Couldn't be possible that Shout! could get a hold of the syndication versions of Kidd Video and release them? |

This show was so popular and the videos to the show are on youtube and have been viewed tens of thousands of times. It would seem there is a market for this show. I still cannot believe they only toured and had their album released in Israel. Who dropped the ball on that one? |

Removing the songs kills the plot in some of the episodes! |
