There are no real rules for this thread, just try and list a reason why a particular episode should be considered and anything else you can think of.
- 112 - Untamed Youth: This is probably the strongest episode from the first season. Owned by Warner Brothers.
- 205 - Rocket Attack USA: This is most definitely the best of the remaining non-released Season 2 episodes. Owned by Parasol Group/Applause Networks Inc.
- 302 - Gamera / 304 - Gamera Vs. Barugon / 308 - Gamera Vs. Gaos / 312 - Gamera Vs. Guiron / 316 - Gamera Vs. Zigra: Any of the Gamera titles would make people "ooh and ahh". I personally think the best is 312. Owned by Kadakowa.
- 309 - The Amazing Colossal Man: Because Rhino's tape from 1996 botched the deal, and the VHS went out of print not too long after release. This is definitely one of the strongest episodes from Season 3. Don't know who own's it. It's a Bert I. Gordon film so it might be tough.
- 322 - Master Ninja I & 324 - Master Ninja II: These have always been my personal favorite episodes. Probably because I remember watching the show as a kid on tv. Both are extremely re-watchable. Maybe they could be included on the same disc as a bonus in a 4 disc box? Owned by FVI.
- 508 - Operation Double 007: The stretch run of 507-512 is the most consistantly strong grouping of episodes throughout the shows run, IMO. This episode is no exception. Joel in a smoking jacket + Sean Connery's brother in the film. How can you go wrong? MGM/Warner.
- 509 - Girl In Lover's Lane: See 508. And it's Public Domain, I think.
- 610 - The Violent Years: Ed Wood film? Check. Mike & the Bots best riffing of Season 6? Check. Public domain? Check.
- 614 - San Francisco International: Owned by Universal, failed TV show. Perfect for Shout.
- 701 - Night of the Blood Beast: IMO the most consistinently funny episode in the show's history. They did a whole seperate set of host segments for the Turkey Day '95 debut of this episod, those could be an alternate viewing selection on the disc. Owned by Alpha.
As you can see my suggestions are from the Comedy Channel/CTV/Comedy Central era. I'm really hoping that Shout focuses on these year as much as humanly possible. I know that many will sing the praises of the SciFi era shows, mainly because some of the newer fans of the show simply were too young to have seen the CC era as it ran. Please don't neglect that era!!
Thanks for reading

Member since: 9/9/2008 | | RE: MST3K: Future Shout Release Episode Suggestions | I'm with you on the last four, soundandvision. Girl In Lover's Lane is vintage MST3K, when everything was working perfectly. And the movie itself, sad, homoerotic, bleakly funny....I love it, and would like a better copy.
The Violent Years and Bride of the Monster would both be good, as the two MST3K Ed Wood films that haven't seen DVD release yet.
San Francisco International is an underappreciated gem, full of genius one liners. "Insert Tab H into B-Movie." "That's why the Saviour is a tramp!" Heh.
As for Night of the Blood Beast, that would be included on my proposed MST3K:TURKEY DAY dvd boxed set. Without a doubt. And both sets of host segments would be included.
I'd like to add that ONE episode above all others needs DVD release. It's the champion of the Sci Fi era: PUMA MAN!
The Pyoomaymen DEFINITELY needs dvd treatment, and if only one more dvd was to be made, this would be the one I'd request.
There's lots to do, Shoutfactory! We have money, we will spend it, so produce!

Member since: 6/26/2008 | | RE: MST3K: Future Shout Release Episode Suggestions | "Night of the Blood Beast" is one of the few I've never seen. Bring it on. In the meantime, I have some humble suggestions of my own:
The Alexander Ptushko filmography: "Jack Frost," "The Day the Earth Froze," "The Magic Voyage of Sinbad," and the suspiciously credit-free "The Sword and the Dragon" (did everyone want their names taken off the picture?).
"Santa Claus:" Santa decsends from the moon to battle Pitch for the souls of children. The "helpers from around the world" sequence makes the Mammy character from "Gone with the Wind" look like a model of racial sensitivity.
"Final Justice:" Joe Don Baker graces the screen once more. Lucky us.
"Alien From L. A.:" Kathy Ireland in Atlantis. Not since "Muskrat Love" has a piece of entertainment had so much squeeking.
"Village of the Giants:" Based on "The Food of the Gods." Sort of. Features a guy riding a giant pair of breasts.
"Attack of the the Eye Creatures:" Two "the's" for the price of one. Watch out for the Eye Creature dressed in a leotard.
Anyone else? |

Member since: 5/7/2008 | | RE: MST3K: Future Shout Release Episode Suggestions | I do agree with a lot on the list at the top of this thread. I have to say ANYTHING from Season 2 would be great: Rocket Attack USA, the four Robert Lippert movies (King Dinosaur, Rocketship X-M, Lost Continent, Jungle Goddess). Any of the Gamera movies (all of them!) would be great and Amazing Colossal Man and its sequel, War of the Colossal Beast are two favorites of mine as they are tremendously funny even on countless repeat viewings. However, if there's one episode at the dead bottom of my list, it's Girl In Lover's Lane. No hurry to see that one on DVD compared to so many other better episodes; it's just so depressing. I'd also like to see Warrior of the Lost World, Outlaw (of Gor), Hercules, Being From Another Planet, Teenage Caveman, Viking Women and the Sea Serpent, Fugitive Alien (both of them), The Magic Sword and the Magic Voyage of Sinbad get the fast track to DVD.

Im also into variety like 2 Mikes,2 Joels for diversity. I would like The Crawling Eye to come out at some point, and other Season 1 titles.

Member since: 7/16/2007 | | RE: MST3K: Future Shout Release Episode Suggestions | MGM technically would be the copyright holder, but anyhow, Rhino most likely was assuming those two were PD (which, as far as we're concerned, they've become that way). Similar situation with NIGHT OF THE BLOOD BEAST, THE SCREAMING SKULL and AMAZING TRANSPARENT MAN.

Though there are still a lot of episodes I've yet to see since my main source of MST3k came from the later Sci-fi channel episodes but I would definately buy a set for that episode alone. |

Which is why I chose this user name. (Anything to lobby for the release of this episode. It is incredibly funny.) I wonder what the rights issues are with these films? |

Member since: 1/24/2008 | | RE: MST3K: Future Shout Release Episode Suggestions | Hi Travis, I know you are the guy who did the Likelyhood for Rhino/Shout Releases - Im friends with someone who could hlep you further in your research on the Gamera movies. Now you might know who he is, August Ragone. Hes pretty famous in the world of Godzilla and friends and Im sure he can let you know all the information you want to know about who now owns Gamera, Mighty Jack, Time of the Apes, Fugitive Alien and so forth. I bought his book Eiji Tsuburaya Master of Monsters. He used to write the Markalite Magazine. I told another friend to let you know as well about him. He is on the web. He has a tremendous wealth of knowledge. If you know him, oops, if not, he is a nice guy and would be happy to answer your questions about rights issues...
