--Bumper segments! This is a must. All through the Comedy Central era, the crew would record 10 or 15 second skits advertising new experiments. I'm not sure, but I think they did 2 or 3 per episode. I've still got many MST3K VHS tapes with the commercials intact, and these are always a joy to stumble upon, as they're usually jokes based on host segments within the episodes themselves. Who has these? Can Shoutfactory get them?
And if they can, please don't even worry about only including the ones that apply to the episodes included in that particular dvd release. Just smack them all together: Season One bumpers, Season Two bumpers, etc. They're of historical interest to fans, and they're damn funny.
--Turkey Day segments!! Dear god, please collect all of these and give them over. Perhaps next year at this time, release a special MST3K TURKEY DAY boxed set, with four new episodes and all of the Thanksgiving themed segments and bumpers available. (Hint, there are LOTS of them) Turkey Day is precious to our memories as fans, when Comedy Central would spend 24 hours giving us a nonstop MST3K feast. A DVD set reminiscent of this would appeal to all.
--Finally, please grab that Making of MST3K documentary that Comedy Central aired way back when. It's vintage, and it'd be great to have.
I, and lots of other fans are excited about the possibilities, Shout Factory! Thanks very much!

I'd love to see the Playstation Underground footage come to DVD. It's on YouTube, but a high-res version of this short video would be fantastic! It features footage of Mike and the Bots on the Bridge playing Playstation games, before going into the theater and riffing on several old Playstation commercials. It was released with Playstation Underground magazine, and included a behind-the-scenes easter egg that showed them filming the video.
Looking forward to the History of MST feature on the 20th Anniversary set! |

On another note- hey, it's comics artist supreme Ethan Van Sciver! I really enjoyed babbling with you about MST3K instead of comics at HeroesCon. |

- Bumper Segments: Another vote for this. Some were often funnier than the actual episode host segments. I believe Comedy Central & SciFi produced at least 1 per episode to promote that weeks episode.
- Outtakes: This is something Rhino did on a handful of discs (Sidehackers, for example) and I thought it was a very exciting extra. As someone who has seen some of these episodes (especially back in the day, as a teenager) until the VHS tape finally broke...it's cool to see the evolution of the host segments, etc. Kind of imagining them at work creating cool bits of "funny". Would be nice if each Shout disc had outtakes from that particular episode.
- Turkey Day Bumpers: Yet another vote for these. Maybe Shout could feature a year's worth on one set and then another, etc.
- This is MST3K Documentary: Produced by Comedy Central in 1992, another vote for this.
- MST Scrapbook: This absolutely has to be included on a future Shout Release. It was too cool of an item to never see the light of day on DVD.
- 1992 MST3K Uptown: I don't know if it exists but if there's a "good" quality tape of this in Mallon's possesion, this would be a great treat for fans of the early years. They riffed on "World Without End".
- MST ConventioCon Footage: from 1992 - 1996.
- Making of MST3K Documentary: Produced by Scifi in 1997.

I also agree with the above poster about the 1992 MST3K Uptown. If there is a clear copy, I would be very happy to see it. Turkey Day bumpers would be great too. Oh and a featurette on the life of Tor Johnson would be excellent.

*would love to see those in their entirety with the bots riffing them*
I think that Rhino released 2 of them on episodes they had...

I might not give the answer that you want me to.

In fact, go back and collect the ones Rhino failed to do, like the MST hour segs for Manos, etc, then we'd be all up to date on them. That would make a nice little extra. |

Member since: 11/26/2008 | | RE: MST3K Extras....some ideas. | These were actually called promos. Bumpers would be the stuff like the planet spinning before going to commercial, or the Deep 13 various things during late season 5 and season 6.
As far as I know, there weren't any specially made in seasons 1 & 2. They started doing them in season 3, at first with a generic 'premise' about the show featuring Joel and the Bots, allowing the movie part to be replaced each show. The first time they did an episode specific (aka episodic promo) one was "Fugitive Alien", I think (Farmer Joel and his chicken bots). They kept doing them until Sci-Fi, when they went back to multiple-use generics (meaning you see one, you've seen them all, unlike episodics).
There tended to be three versions of each one. "Saturday at 10" (or Sunday at 10 during season 5-6), "Saturday at 7PM", and "NEXT" (to run usually in the last commercial break of whatever was running before the episode). Each was shot during the episode, centering around 1 or 2 host segments (usually just one), and each of the three was original. Only the "NEXT" versions were aired during repeats, since they tended to harp on the episode being new throughout the promo in the other versions (I remember during a repeat of 502 "Hercules" the 'NEXT' actually had an embedded graphic touting the episode as the season premiere).
From what I understand, these promos tended to be included on the Comedy Central broadcast master tapes. They shouldn't be hard to get whatsoever, I guarantee it!
