A very satisfied customer! Just bought the 2nd volume of Sonic Underground directly from Shout!

I'm continually impressed by the quality attention the Shout Factory team puts into their products. You guys do a terrific job giving us fans a voice and listening to what we want. I will continue to support you in the years to come.

I'm very eagerly awaiting the next few volumes of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog! The first one had some great special features. :)

Or Even worse, us AoSTH fans have to wait until Christmas for Vol 2 and possibly a year or so longer after that for the final volume.  As a tribute to Shout Factory, and an early celebration of the completion of Sonic Underground, we should show off our Shout DVD collections.

My Shout Collection

Once Sonic Underground is released and starts making sales, I hope we hear some good news from Brian regarding AoSTH volume 2 and 3.  It looks like that Sonic The Movie wiki rumor was shot down.

Let me get this straight. It doesn't come out until June 17th, yet you can already order it from the Shout Factory store...order it, and not pre-order it? If I was to place an order for it now, would I get it prior to the 17th (within the shipping window I choose)?

If you ordered it from Amazon.com they began shipping the titles out early.  I just received my copy today and plan to watch an episode tonight.  Of course after tonight, it will be readily available everywhere.  Having now Sonic Underground as a complete set makes me glad I didn't go through great lengths to acquire the Anchor Bay release from a few years ago.  Things sound promising that Adventure of Sonic Volume 2 could be around the corner with Volume 3 still questionable.  I also wonder if I should pick up that European release in case the whole series is never released here in the States.  I do have faith though :).  Until then I plan to enjoy SUV2.

Sorry about the bad luck.  Usually stores make sure to keep upcoming releases off shelves until the release date.  What I saw must have been a stocking error on one of the workers. On the plus side today is the 17th,  so the set should be on store shelves when you (or any one of us) look.  I still have to wait till the 20th to receive mine since I placed it as an order online, but to those who do get the copy today have a good time watching what among Sonic fans is considered the most controversial Sonic cartoon from Dic (either you like it or you don't ).

Are there any special features on the dvds(1-3) or easter eggs?

RE: A very satisfied customer! Just bought the 2nd volume of Sonic Underground directly from Shout!
Special features on this volume look pretty sparse.  One bullet point advertises the included Soundtrack CD containing 8 songs from the 2nd volume.  The other feature is something called Music Jukebox, which I haven't personally explored, but i am guessing that it just links to the music video segment of the episode.  Anyone elaborate on that?

I never was a big fan of special features on some of these cartoons and if increased profits and a greater chance for additional volumes of AoSTH means that some special features have to be omitted, than so be it.  I consider SU to be my least favorite of the 3 DiC Sonic cartoons, and only purchased it to help sales and push future AoSTH volumes.

This might interest you and some of the other Sonic X dvd collectors.  "Sonic X DVD, Chaos & Shadow Sagas, which will feature episodes 27-38 and will be released on September 2nd, 2008".  I can't wait for this since the Sonic Adventure Saga's are my favorite episodes from thew whole 78 episode series (which isn't isn't saying much).

On a side note, with all these Sonic releases in box set form and single dvd form coming out and re-releases of the old Sterling dvds.   I think it's about time for a re-release of Sonic the Movie, yes I know this has been brought up in another topic but I really want to see a confirmation of a re-release (techniqually it'd be the third re-release on dvd  since there were two other dvd versions that would come before it).

Also with Sonic X returning to 4kids this weekend on Saturday at 10 am and playing throughout the summer, now's the perfect time to release the Sonic anime which started out being the first Sonic anime tv series, and ended up having the pilot episodes combined into the most action packed, full speed, Sonic animated adventure to date.  This way everyone who picks up the dvd will know that there was another Sonic anime much better than Sonic X (and hopefully Sonic will gain more loving fans).

RE: A very satisfied customer! Just bought the 2nd volume of Sonic Underground directly from Shout!
I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that no new seasons are, or will come into, production for Sonic X.  If you think about it the last two seasons never aired in Japan due to poor ratings.  Those two seasons were the ones containing the Meterex and Cosmo, and were only available in English.  Due to this it's safe to assume that these will be reruns.

As for the third re-release of Sonic The Movie.  I brought that up since the first two dvd releases are out of print, and pretty much the only bonus feature that can be found (at least on my version) is a bios of the characters.  Most of the bios info is pretty much public knowledge at that time.  Other than that the only other difference in features between the VHS and the DVD is the ability to watch the Movie in Japanese with English subs (which a lot of people prefer due to  some of the translation differences and voice acting).

I'm sure a lot of fans will agree a new release with 5.0 surround sound, and upconverted video, would really do this movie justice.  As well as extra bonus features such as an interview with Yuji Naka (the creator and designer for the Sonic Games).  Yuji Naka was involved with the Sonic the Movie anime before he left Sonic Team (after the Shadow the Hedgehog game came out).

Another feature could be the development of Metal Sonic for the movie.  Another could be a special hearing of Look a Like (Sonic the Movie's main theme).  There are so many things that could be dug up for this movie that I'm sure if any company took their time we'd end up with one of the best Sonic experiences since Sonic CD (The Sonic game many fans love due to the game play, music ,and beautiful opening and ending cutscenes (which many love do to the hand drawn qualities which resembled that of the Sonic Movie which was released not to far apart from Sonic CD)), and I'm sure the outcome would please fans and newcomers to Sonic alike.

Got my copy for $15. Pretty good deal.

milesdx, I'm curious as to where you heard about the next volume of Sonic X being released in September. Not that I doubt you, I'm just curious.

As far as I know, the rights to the Sonic Movie are pretty much up for grabs. It'd be nice for a re-release since it's pretty much impossible to find at a reasonable price nowadays.

iirc the anime was oringially released in japan on May 31st 1996, then released on dvd in 1999 and again in 2004 so this movie was made long before Naka-San's decision to leave sonic team (shadow the hedgehog was released on November 15th 2005).

I got the info from here TSSZnews.com.  This site is a very reliable gaming news site that is a little Sonic news based.  Not only does this site cover up-to-date gaming info in the gaming universe, but covers pretty much every bit of Sonic news as it happens.  For example, whenever new previews, scans and info are added to the Archie's Sonic Blog page, this site posts everything from that page letting you know of the upcoming comic so you don't have to go to the blog page.

They also cover rumors as they pop up and follow them through until they're proven true are false.  In fact one of their latest rumors is of a new Sonic DS game called Sonic Attitude, slated to be shown at this years E3 (which would make it the second Sonic DS game to appear next to Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood).

I know, I was trying to set a time frame between the time when Yuji Naka worked on the Sonic Movie and when he left Sonic Team.  I just forgot to include the dates, sorry for the confusion and thanks for filling in the missing info for me.

no problem. the way u stated that people would think that movie was recently created rather than saying that the movie was re-released approx. 1 year before Naka-San's leaving Sonic Team. glad to be of help.

I got the Sonic Underground: The Second & Final Volume DVD, this time @ Best Buy at East 86th St & Lexington of Manhattan's Upper East Side. When I walk all the way to the New Rochelle Library to volunteer; and then my friend wasn't there. So I went to the Upper East Side of Manhattan Best Buy store last Thursday (June 19th, 2008), by take a bus & train. So far I got 4 Sonic the Hedgehog DVDs (88 total episodes, with Underground, Sonic Saturday cartoon version & AoStH syndicated version) with 2 upcoming Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog DVDs to go. The Shout Factory did a great job on release classic TV shows & cartoons here on DVD! Sonic Underground Volume 2 DVD is cost $25 with tax!

ok this is driving me nuts. i always check at my local fye store to see if the got Sonic Underground Vol 2 in, i only see Vol1 on the shelf and i have asked them to get me a copy and they still havent recived it. i know that this might be wrong for me to ask this, but i have to ask. Brian could you please ask the guys down in shipping (or to whom ever you have to speak to) if they can send extra copies to the FYE warehouse then have your driver to tell them at the warehouse to send extra copies to their FYE Store in Stroudsburg, PA. much appreciated. though i feel i should get a free dvd of my choice for my troubles out of this.

Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work that way.  FYE buys a large quantity from us then their headquarters makes the decision as to where to send them.  Having at one time managed an FYE, I can only recommend that you special order a copy from your local store.

yeah well no harm in trying anyway, thanks for your help brian. btw i asked them to pre-order twice and fell short in that department, when i get a chance ill go talk to them again if not ill just direct order from this site and no longer do business with F.Y.E.  i honestly fail to see why they cant order it, they have always carry the shout factory line of dvd products.
