Please let Shout! know how much I appreciate them putting together this fabulous "Father Knows Best" dvd set. Mine arrived in the mail today and I'm loving it. Great picture and audio quality on all the episodes I've screened thus far (over half). While I will admit it would be nice to have the full running time on every episode instead of some being syndicated cuts, I understand that you have to sometimes make a choice between picture quality or complete episodes. I believe you have done us FKB fans a great service and you are to be commended. Please pass my thanks along to everyone.
Keeping my fingers crossed for a season 2 announcement in the coming months!

I also want to add my thanks to Shout! for releasing season 1 of "Father Knows Best." While, there is still the issue of edited syndication episodes on this release, I do sincerely appreciate the fact that 12 of the 26 episodes were nearly complete. I say "nearly complete" because the end credits just sort of abruptly cut off . . . . looks like something might be missing. On balance, though, I'd say that this release of "Father Knows Best" is an improvement over Shout!'s earlier release of "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet." To my eyes, the visual quality of the episodes seems a bit more consistent on this release than it did with "Ozzie & Harriet." I also appreciate the fact that at least a little marketing money was put behind this release as I saw the set advertised this week (4/1/08 - 4/5/08) at Best Buy and that's where I ended up purchasing it (unusual for me since most of my TV-on-DVD releases are made at online retailers).
Since Shout! now has released episodes from two of the key "Family Sitcoms" of the 1950s, would you consider a third, "The Donna Reed Show?" From what I've been able to gather, this is another show where the rights are controlled by the family estate, at least for earlier episodes.
Thanks, again, to you and Shout! for your vintage TV-on-DVD releases.
Bob

Member since: 4/14/2008 | | RE: FATHER KNOWS BEST - Season 1 | | I have to agree. The release of Father Knows Best has been long overdue and Shout Factory should be congratulated for recognizing that fact. Growing up in that era has made watching the 1st Season DVD set a very moving and personal experience. It brought a tear to my eye when I viewed again, after many years, the wonderfully emotional, strong family oriented episodes. It was mine and many others favorite show as we grew up.
Father Knows Best had such a warmth to it and reinforced a morality as well as strong family and individual values that seem to be long lost in society today. Every show was an example of how to live life in an intelligent, kind and gentle way. There was always a moral to the stories in every episode. The characters became our own family members for those that enjoyed the show in the 50s and 60s. It really did serve as a guidepost (to quote a line from one of the shows) for all those who watched each week. The show taught many people the right way to conduct their lives. It is truly rare that ANY show has the positive impact that Father Knows Best has had on it's viewers. That show made better people!
PLEASE RELEASE ALL 6 seasons!!!!!!!!!!!!
From your own charts, it appears the series is your number 1 DVD set at this time. I have no doubt that further releases of the series would have a similar reception from the consumer. It also shows quite clearly that there is indeed a void in today's television offerings, that can be filled by the timeless charm of this series. PLEASE RELEASE MORE of one of the finest shows to ever grace TV, Father Knows Best. Today's generation of kids will learn the more important values and morals of life from this show, just as past generations did. The show is timeless in it's quality and virtues. Again, thank you for releasing season one of Father Knows Best. I have watched all of the episodes twice already, and look forward to Shout Factory making the wise choice of releasing and sharing all of the show's episodes to create a new generation of Anderson family fans.

What a wonderful thing to be able to sit down as a family and watch a magnificent classic like "Father Knows Best". Hope Season 2 isn't far behind, Brian.
