Member since: 2/10/2007 | | Bonus features for upcoming Sonic dvd | I was thinking about about a great feature that would be great on an upcoming Sonic DVD (anyone would work). In Australia there was a place called Sega World. It was a Sega based theme park.
They even had a Sonic the Hedgehog stage show, called Sonic Live in Sydney. It starred Sonic, Tails, Sally, and Robotnik. There was even a cast recording of the show along with the songs uncut. You can find the songs in mp3 format here. As for the show recording I happen to have it in mp3 format and am sure it is available somewhere and if not Sega might have it in storage.
My request is to have this sound track and maybe even a video, or if nothing else the cast recording of the show, available as a bonus feature on an upcoming Sonic DVD. |

In which case, Brian, I'd imagine you'd be interested in including the pilot animation Milton Knight did for Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, with Jim Cummings (Robotnik in SatAM) playing the voice of Robotnik and Scratch. You can check it out here. |

Harder than it sounds, I'm sure. But having worked in the entertainment department of a theme park for a handful of years, I have something of an affinity for those kinds of shows.
I have the pilot animation and that poses a slightly more complicated, difficult problem. Jim Cummings wasn't the voice for Robotnik in that incarnation of Sonic, therefore, I'd have to pay him to use the pilot, since it was a performance. Not only that, both DiC and SEGA would have to approve the use of the animation. Again, harder than it sounds.
Please make note that this isn't to say I wouldn't use either of these. I'm just trying to make it clear why one or both may be left off of subsequent sets.
Keep the suggestions coming. Love 'em!
Brian

You don't hear to much about isolated scores anymore. Actually in all seriousness, an interview with the composers would be cool. I never heard much about this unaired pilot episode, so for completest sake, if you can get that and the Christmas Blast episode put into volumes 2 and 3, I think that would be cool.
Another cool bonus could be editing the four Chaos Emerald episodes together to make a nice 90 minute movie. Of course, you have to leave the four episodes in episode form for completest sake as well. |

Ya know it would be cool if the Chaos Emerald saga would run together then have the option to play all or play indivdually, very good idea glexter!

Member since: 2/10/2007 | | RE: Bonus features for upcoming Sonic dvd | Here is another suggestion. I know that you have had problems with securing rights for digital versions of the Sonic comics. But I though I'd throw this one at you in hopes of it making it to the Underground set. Archie had a bunch of Sonic spin offs, one of them was a series called Sonic Super Special. Each comic in the series was exactly 48 pages long with multiple stories.
Sonic Super Special 10 actually had a crossover of Archie's Sonic's dimension and the Sonic Underground Dimension. Sonic traveled across the multiverse to the Sonic Underground dimension to help stop Evil Sonic (another version of Sonic from another dimension as well). So basically the whole story revolved around the Sonic Underground.
I don't know how to post images on this forum that is scanned I scan into my computer. I'll just post a link to the cover of the comic that's available on an online comic dealer. Don't know how long the image will be there though since these comics come and go from the site often. Though recently they have been up for a longer length of time. (link) |

As for a interview, I heard or read that one of the sound people that did AoSTH died quite a while ago.
Again I also wish to see the unaired pilot but there might be third party rights that have to be obtained (heard it from Dvariano who heard it from Milton Knight) - it is the ONLY episode that I haven't seen... fully.
Ah yes, Quest for the Chaos Emeralds. There was a video back in 1994 by Tempo that had the same thing that you suggested, making it into one movie but the problem was is that it was done haphazardly skipping little bits of the episodes and very noticeable (which is why I see them serperately).
Now the only things to know is who did what episodes (bar the TMS episodes), who voiced Professor Von Schlemmer and a few things and that would be mostly it for me.

" Some great ideas, AG. I've toyed around with authoring discs that way, but we're not allowed. DiC has a strict agreement with us that includes things like opening titles, credits, and logos. The compression won't be bad, though. I wouldn't do that to you guys.
Brian"
I assume that includes the combining of the Chaos Emerald Saga. |

Member since: 4/2/2007 | | RE: Bonus features for upcoming Sonic dvd | Ah yes, it looks as though editing them together would be a major legal roadblock. It seems as though DiC is very picky about how their episodes are presented as they seem to fight Shout every step of production. If I was copyright holder for an 80's cartoon empire, id be happy that studios like Shout are even interested in releasing my product. But I am not in the industry so there is probably a gray area that I don't even realize. Shutting up now.
Even if the remaining sonic cartoons are barebone dvd's, id be happy with that, so long as they all make it to store shelves. |

Member since: 2/10/2007 | | RE: Bonus features for upcoming Sonic dvd | | Just thought I'd post this here. This link, will take you to a video file I composed that plays the Sonic Live in Sydney stage show cast recording (not the individual songs, the actual 25 min. 15 sec. show). I couldn't think of a video to play while the music was going so I created a slide show of some of my own artwork. Any way i hope you can use this stage show recording in an upcoming Sonic dvd set. |
