A truly hilarious show (almost on the same level as Sam & Max) starring Dan 'Homer Simpson' Castellanetta as the title character, I understand that there are some rights issues with the video game and action figure companies. However, if any company could make it work, it's Shout Factory. I believe NBC/Universal originally created the show, though Shiny Entertainment handled the video game. Creator Doug Tennapel might also have some info about what it would take to get the show released. Is there any hope for an EWJ DVD? |

If the rights issue could be straightened out, then it would make for a good venture. The same problems are involved with Mighty Max. It's a big mystery as to who owns THAT show.

The problem is as SpongeBob and the original poster says are the rights. The Earthworm Jim game for PSP was cancelled due to rights issue with Atari (who has all the games inherited from Shiny, interfered with development), Playmates (the toys) and the creator Doug Tenapel. Now the cartoon would have slightly different rights but in short it is Universal and UK owned Virgin Media (formally Flextech which I use to watch this show on TCC - the channel owned by that company).
Since Universal did outsource to Shout Factory for a couple of shows, maybe Shout can release it or Universal if they decide to release it. Strangely since it is a UK co-production, I've never seen DVDs or tapes of this. |

Looking into it.
