I don't know when this show was gonna be released on DVD, I remember hearing FOX announce that they were gonna release DVD boxsets of this show sometime after the movie gets released but that was around the time when the movie was first announced. |

Yeah, I'm not sure who would be responsible for this one. But I can't imagine some big studio not releasing a best-of collection, at the very least, to go along with the movie. However, I'd be interested in seeing how they get around the music licensing. While they don't have to pay for the original master use, since Alvin and gang sang the songs themselves, they were still MEGA hits being sung and someone's gotta pay for that. As a result, there is NO WAY we'd be able to make a deal for something like Alvin and the Chipmunks. Now the question is: who could? And will they?

FOX brought the rights to Garfield when they were releasing the movie and they stated a while ago that they would release DVD sets of Alvin and the Chipmunks after they release the movie. FOX is a big company, I think they might be able to get the music licence to that show.

Some of the bigger companies have released sets with a lot of replacement music (i.e. Universal with Quantum Leap and 20th Century Fox with WKRP in Cincinnati). The bigger the company, the more interested they are in profit. And you can make a lot of profit, if you're paying a lot for royalties.

As far as I know there were three Alvin and the Chipmunk Series. The Alvin Show, Alvin and the Chipmunks 1880's, and Alvin and the Chipmunks 1990's. Out of these three I hope it would be The Alvin Show or the 1880's series (I find them the best). I just hope you're right and fox gets the license for the music.
