Nick Releases, Stop releasing seasons in two parts.

I have read on your site that the retailers won't buy the nick sets if it's a 4
disc set, that has to be complete nonsense because the other dvd supplier, Mill
Creek Entertainment release 4 disc box sets and they have no issues so how come
it's just you, So come on release complete seasons not complete seasons in two
parts. You just want more money off us customers at the end of the day.

It's really annoying because we wait ages for the first part to be announced and then have to wait again for the second part to be announced.

Mill Creek is all bargain releases, Shout's are deluxe releases.  Not even remotely the same thing, nor the same risk for retailers.  The ONLY way retailers will carry these Nick sets (or most other low profile cartoon sets) is as smaller, easy to move sets.  It's simply the way things are nowadays, it's not the same market for TV on DVD as it was even 5 years ago.

I think it's because retailers are more focused on a set's price.  Shout Factory uses fewer episodes per disc on top of including extras, which is great for image quality but it also means an extra disc or two over a typical season.   MillCreek releases generally have a couple more episodes per disc and fewer extras which helps them put together sets with attractive low price points.

A retailer would rather have a 2 disc release they can stick on the shelf at $15 than a full season set that will sell for around $30-35.  Maybe the retailers figure the divided season approach results in higher sales when kids see the smaller divided sets, ask for the sets, and parents more readily purchase said sets due to the sub $20 prices.

In the end it doesn't do Shout Factory any good to produce a great season set release if they can't get retailers to stock the sets.

Unfortunately I can only see these split seasons sets having a negative effect on future releases.

Good reasons why Shout should have keep to complete season sets:
1. We are your customers, the retailers are only one method of distribution.
2. The previous DVD-R releases of Nick series were complete seasons.
3. People don't like split season sets, and many people will not buy them. Just look at Amazon reviews of any TV series that went from complete seasons, to split seasons.
4. The split seasons means people are actually paying even more ($39.90 for two parts vs $29.95 for complete season) for each season.
5. The split seasons are too small (10 episodes) due to smaller seasons (20 episodes) of Nick series, and not much better than single volumes.
6. Sales often decline over the releases of series, so releasing doubling the amount, over an even longer time, won't help sales at all.

I will continue to buy these split season sets myself, but I really think Shout should have kept to complete seasons.

I also don't like the split season sets either, nor did I like the burn on demand dics on Amazon. As far as retail goes, just because a season set is smaller or split up it doesn't mean that it will be available in stores just because it's cheaper. I had a difficult time finding Aaahhh!!! Real Monsters, Season 1 on DVD when it first came out because none of the stores carried it. I even tried Best Buy where I bought the first season of Rocko's Modern Life, and they didn't have it. I almost came up & thought I'd have to buy it online, but I found the last copy of Aaahh!!! Real Monsters at F.Y.E. Even the person who worked at the cash register didnt even know it had came out. Lol So just because some of the shows are two disc sets that doesn't mean it will be available in the stores. In 2010, MTV released the full series of Daria on DVD and it was only 50 dollars for all 65 episodes on a 8 disc set. If you're a true fan of the show you will purchase the full series over the split seasons. And all the stores had trouble keeping this DVD because it kept selling out, and that show is just as old as these 90's Nick shows being released. Good thing Rocko & Aaahh!!! Real Monsters seasons were short so they don't need to split up the seasons. I'm only supporting the releases of Rocko & Aaahh!! Real Monsters DVDs . I'm still waiting to hear when the second season of Aaahh!! Real Monsters will be released! And possibly more shows be released soon.

Hey Arnold has 100 episodes, after season 1, there might be eight more Hey Arnold dvds to go. Rocko and Ahh Real Monsters has about 13 episodes. They split CatDog up with 10 episodes on each dvd, there is only 65 episodes and plus the movie. They could aleast have 13 episodes on it and called it CatDog Volume 1-5. I don't know why that retail stores are making a big deal about having a dvd on a 4 disc set. I have seen nick toons dvds in Wal-Mart and BestBuy. If Rocko and Ahh Monsters is a two disc set, with 13 episodes, Why is other retail stores don't carry it, besides Wal-Mart and BestBuy? We all are going have to wait, when all of the nick cartoons dvds has been completed.

none of the retailers were carrying the 4 discs sets I saw Angry Beavers seasons 1&2 (4 disc set) Once At Wal-mart and only the 1 copy that I bought. I had to order all of the others rectly off of amazon.com because No One had them But I see all the 2 disc sets Everywhere. I was able to buy Aaah! real monsters, season2 Part1 Wild Thornberrys, Rocko Season 1, hey Dude Season 1, CatDog season1 part1 - All At Best Buy and wal-mart It is annoying but it's better than no releases at all

6. Sales often decline over the releases of series, so releasing doubling the amount, over an even longer time, won't help sales at all.

This, more than anything else, is going to be the big sticking point.

Are those kids, who the smaller, cheaper sets are supposedly aimed at, going to be jumping for joy over the eighth Hey Arnold set or the seventh Wild Thornberries set? And if each set sells incrementally less than the previous one, are retailers going to be tripping over themselves to order the seventh or eight set of one of these Nicktoons if they're not going to move units like The Simpsons or Family Guy?

Fans are eventually going to reach a point where they are SOL. And incidentally, how are these harder sells than that 9-disc Underdog set or that 11-disc Mr. Magoo set?
