Ricky Nelson's son Sam is stepping up to preserve the landmark OZZIE AND HARRIET from the original 35mm materials meaning the potential for the dvd debut of the series in UNCUT form. At 435 episodes might a hard sell as a complete box set but a great way to go might be to break it into 2 or 3 sets. SHOUT! is the home of classic tv and has more and more presented classic tv in uncut form. I hope as a fan of your product you can consider partnering with Sam Nelson to make this a reality! I would be in on the purchase of this great series in UNCUT form! He has some great ideas as he is trying to get the project going as a pledge drive effort, if your team tosses some ideas around I bet you can make this must own TV!
Hey that is a great new PR line for the company " SHOUT! Must own TV! |

The Nelson family surely has enough money to restore and put these episodes out themselves. Why go begging for donations?
Just curious. |

If all of the original episodes are in such bad shape then what did Shout use for the 3 sets they put out? |

But I wouldn't even think to presume that an estate has enough money to fully restore a TV series. Not when I know the cost of that. I don't care how much money the Nelson family made. No one wants to throw that kind of money around. And I'm doubting they even have it. I fully understand the need for donations.

This is your time to shine! | | Doubtful that Sam Nelson has any idea how much this would cost. I'm guessing for 435 shows, a couple of million dollars minimum. It sounds good and made for some nice internet headlines but the reality of it is there is no way he could do it for the amounts he was talking about and there just is not enough of a market for the show, least of all considering that the show is in the public domain and has all kinds of music issues. |
