Mario Bros. 3/Adventures of Sonic Dual Pack

I found this at Amazon: Super Mario Bros & Sonic the Hedgehog Box Set

Is this officially from Shout! Factory? It looks kind of cool, and you would be getting two items for less than buying the two separately.

RE: Mario Bros. 3/Adventures of Sonic Dual Pack
yeah it looks official, its 7 discs, its says its being released on Nov 20th. Does any more proof that AoSTH isnt going to see a vol 2 or 3 release needed now. Why else in the world would they be making a dual pack like that, to try and boost sales any way possible, while I understand it, and agree with it from a profit point of view, i highly doubt its going to make a difference in boosting sales for AoSTH vol 1. If i had to guess i would say its not geared toward fans of the shows and to people who already bought both of the dvd sets, i would say its geared toward people who sort of "stumble" across it in a store...children, people who forgot about the shows, etc. But why would a fan that already had both dvd sets want that, i dont mean that sarcasticly, i mean if you were a AoSTH fan(which i am not), even though sales werent good for it wouldnt they be looking out for vol 2 of it? And you know its not in digipack, its in slim casing, with 7 dvds in the set i would guess you got SMB3 in dual slim cases to conserve space.

I'm not a fan of any of the Sonic shows, but the only Sonic show I have ever seen at Target is SatAM.  The only place I have ever seen AoSTH is at only one of the Best Buys in my town and only when it was first released.  It is kind of hard to sell it when it isn't available at many places.

Hmm.  That's something.  Out of all the Sonic shows, I like AoSTH the best.  It's probably b/c it was the only one I could watch regularly w/o any other shows obstructing me.  My saturdays were booked w/ X-men and such so SATAM was out.  I also never got into Underground.  However, comparing AoSTH to SMBSS and Captain N, it was a very distant 3rd.  I never took it too seriously b/c at times it felt too silly.  But, all in all, it had the most eps of the 3 Sonic series, which, in my view, made it a strong series.  I'm a little disappointed that no Vol. 2 or 3 might be made for this.  It kind of eliminated what small incentive in wanting to get the series.  It's one of those gems that you want your kids to get into since they might not have seen it, like SMBSS or Captain N.  Oh well.  I hope Shout reconsiders.

RE: Mario Bros. 3/Adventures of Sonic Dual Pack

Desperate times call for desperate measures (ironically both series have also aired on a TV station called POP) that's if the set is real. Maybe Shout was trying something new, need to double check.

Besides the few active fans have already imported the UK Boxset with all the episodes on it, the quality isn't as good as the Shout boxset but if Volumes 2 and 3 aren't made, then the remainder would have no choice but to import.

Now to my side of things:
AoSTH doesn't really have a fan base (asides Robotnik that is used a lot these days), however when you compare it to SMBSS or Captain N, it is sort of similar. Well I would say more similar to the Super Show (I did a comparison of it a long time ago, even the title cards use the same font and loosely based on the games that came from) than Captain N even if Jeffrey Scott was involved with both. I've been watching some lately (even two seconds of one on POP today), and there is only one episode that I would say is serious and that was Mass Transit Trouble [episode 42] as it feels different than normal.

I should stop now.

RE: Mario Bros. 3/Adventures of Sonic Dual Pack
once again Spleunker we agree, as you've heard me say before...AoSTH is a terrible cartoon pure and simple, corny, purile, cheesy. And yes SMBSS is a lot like it too in ways, i own both vols of SMBSS and have only ever been able to watch it once its so corny, i mean i watched SMBSS as a kid,  so i was 8 years old when it aired and remeber it very well, but its on of those toons i find it painful to watch now years later. I mean Super Mario Bros 3 cartoon wasnt much better, i had never seen SMB3, or super mario world/captain N as a kid, I actually like Captain N, that and Zelda were the only 2 good Nintendo toons made. Zelda cartoon is amazing, they should have made 52 episodes of that instead of SMBSS. I am seriously conisdering selling my copies of SMBSS and Mario 3 dvd, they're just not really re-watchable to me, yeah they take me back, but still its bad. But getting back to the subject, AoSTH I think its safe to say probally going to be a dvd "shelf warmer," on the racks which i actually figured that before it came out.....I also think that Sonic Underground is going to bomb as well, and not see a vol. 2 release.

B Ward has said that a minimum of 15,000 copies of the dvd have to be sold within the first year for it to warrant a next release........sales for AoSTH vol 1 arent doing so hot, and are very likely to continue to be that way

This actually brings up an interesting point.  I don't know how "private" this information is, but how many copies have been sold so far of the following?

Sonic The Hedgehog:
Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog:
Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3:

Pairing up two different cartoon series in a discounted two pack could be a marketing attempt.  However sales of Mario 3 must be strong enough to make way for Super Mario World.

Even though i find the mario cartoons corny for the most part, mario is still different than sonic, either way if sales for mario 3 were strong or not it doesnt really matter because super mario world/captain N comes out on what Nov 13th....after that their all released

I want to see the release of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volumes 2 and 3 on DVD and Sonic Underground Volume 2 to complete the Sonic The Hedgehog cartoon collection on DVD from 1990's. Did The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 sell very well? Thank you.

Its glad its discounted but that really looks ulgy....plus really the best should of been Sonic The Hedgehog Complete Series and Adventure of Sonic 1, that would sell better

Oh and looking at it, its not discounted...your paying the same to get both seperate.. it is a marketing thing to help bring in more money. It'll be good for average people who want the series that didnt get it the first time...collectors wont buy it.

If Shout is doing that.....hopefully we can get a Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Brothers Super Show Vol 1 re-release in the recent packing....smaller and easier to get those disc out.

B Ward,
When will Shout! Factory re-release The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Volume 1 in thin (slim packaging), Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volumes 2 and 3 and Sonic Underground Volume 2 that I will get them? I hope Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 is selling well. Thank you.

theres a 1 in a million chance Shout would release Super mario bros super show vol in slim casing.....it wouls cost them more money to produce the artwork change or w/e you want to call it to turn it into slim cases at that point....i mean it came out what a year and a half ago....there not going to mess with going back and changing that just so it matches vol 2......plus the artwork style on vol doesnt match vol 2 at all, its not like a disc replacement program that is "mandatory", the packaging style is irrevelant....if Shout downgraded to slim cases on vol 2, and didnt mind it being mismatched, its highly doubtful they would go back and waste the money to change it.

I do enjoy have the artwork of the digi packs look, feels like a cartoon treasure chest.  However one thing I do like about individal slip cases is that if they break or become damanged, you can buy a new generic slip case off ebay, and replace the artwork cover and your done.  Digi packs unfortuantely have the problem where if something breaks (center nub usually), you have to live with it or contact the manufacture for a replacement and hope they oblige.

This product is officially from Shout! Factory.  We're excited about releasing the two series together.  And I really dig the packaging.  Our in-house designer, Joe Garcia, designed the slipcase and did an amazing job of combining the two into one really nice box set.  It should look pretty terrific on any fan's shelf.

As for sales numbers, I'm afraid that's something that has to remain confidential.  I've usually been pretty good about telling people that certain things have sold well and when other things haven't.  But I can't announce official numbers.

B Ward,
Will Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volumes 2 and 3 be released on DVD and also Sonic Underground Volume 2 be released on DVD in 2008 that I will get to complete the 1990's Sonic The Hedgehog cartoon collection? Can you please re-release The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Volume 1 in slim packaging? Thank you.

I don't believe it would be expedient for Shout! Factory to reissue SMB:SS vol. one in thinpackaging. They would have to make new artwork, or recalibrate the current artwork to fit on the cases.

Edit: I see trust already touched on this. Sometimes I have an itchy trigger finger, and make posts without reading through a topic throughly.

As for the price of the set, I was referring to the price on Amazon. As of now, it's 39 dollars I think, while both individual sets sell for about 25 on Amazon. You're saving about 11 dollars like this.

Mario cartoons dont have enough fan base for the studio to do something like that, like for example Simpsons Season 6....they had the replacement box, now they have a complete new box with out the top missing, simpsons is huge, Fox is huge.....mario is not, nor would it be cost effective foe Shout to do so.

I'm not saying its not a decent idea to try and boost sales, but hardcore fans i highly doubt would go back and buy that...i mena any hardcore fans would already have bought them, its kinda like those dual movie packs in walmart that cost around $10....those dvds that have 2 movies on them, there has occasioally been movies on those sets i have wanted, but i would never buy them in a setup like that, i will buy the dvd of the movie by itself, those things arent geared toward collecting fans

I just came up with something. You know what you should also do? You should also release a duel pack of The Super Mario Bros Super Show Volumes 1 and 2 and call it "The Super Mario Bros Super Show: The Complete Series". That would be a great collectors edition for people who don't own Volumes 1 or 2.

Actually SMBSS vol. 1  which is in digipack as we know, is actually a little less thinner than vol. 2 which is 4 slim cases....i'm looking at both of them right now.....so i think if anything a dual box of SMBSS vol 1 and 2 would actually be bigger than what people already have......the digipack Vol. 1 is about an eighth of an inch less wider that Vol 2.....check it out.
