You cant do that on television, Salute Your Shorts, Get a Life, 60's Batman TV series with Adam West, and Wonder Years are the ones i want the most. Im holding out hope for some of them, doubt wonder years will ever be done.

I've said it before, but never got any answers, so I'll say it again:

In 2010, there was a fire at CJOH-TV (the company that owns the show). My question is, are any, or all surviving masters housed there lost and gone forever because of it?

Seeing as how we don't have the rights to this show, I'd say that answer would be better acquired elsewhere.  Not sure where, but perhaps a fan group knows.  Or you can ask CJOH-TV directly.

People, this is a very simple question:

Did any episodes get lost in that fire at CJOH-TV last year?

Remember that the series was done at a time when master tapes were really expensive and it was common for stations, studios, and networks to make copies on cheaper video and then erase the masters and use them again.

And a lot of places simply destroyed tapes once they were deemed useless. Some shows were destroyed because of greed, and others out of spite (one of the Paul Winchell shows was destroyed because the owner of the tapes hated Winchell).

Sadly, a lot of what survives today of 1980's TV are recordings people made off the air onto VHS tapes. The quality is really bad and I do not know of a DVD company that would release shows of this poor quality.

I wrote the company who everyone thinks has the rights up in Ottawa and got this response.

Good morning Matt.

Thank you for contacting CTV Ottawa.

The rights to You Can't Do That On Television are now owned by
Nickelodeon.

Kind regards,
