Melissa and Joey

Why did Shout go the volume route with this instead of a full season set?  A set of 12 half hour episodes should not have a suggested retail price of $30.  I know you can get it on sale for $20, but that is still a rip-off.  You can get 29 episodes of Belvedere for about the same price.  I paid $30 for 37 episodes of Blossom.  Is Shout going to do a full season set too or are we going to have to pay $40 or more for two volumes?

RE: Melissa and Joey
This was decided for a couple reasons; first, the second half of the first season is only now airing.  Or is only now about to.  ABC Family splits their seasons into two halves.  And in order to bring people up to speed for the second half, they prefer to have the first volume released prior to its counterpart airing.

As for prices, those aren't really solely dictated by us.  We work with our distributor and even retailers weigh in on that.  So I can't really claim credit for that for Shout! Factory.

There are no plans for a complete season set.  Unlike Fox with their Glee releases, we will not release each volume, followed by a complete season.

RE: Melissa and Joey

Hey Brian,

Just found out that Season One, Part Two is tentatively planned for October 4. Are there any special features the second time around?

I recall seeing online "webisodes" of Melissa & Joey from an episode involving Just Dance 2. This episode would have already been released in "Part One," however, it would be nice to see these appear on the upcoming new release. (The "webisodes" do not rely on the plot of the episode, and would stand alone from the respective release. Maybe Shout! Factory can unearth these - there were 3 of them.)

Hold off on an official date for Season One Part Two.  Something has come up and we may not be able to get it out until next year.  Very unlikely given how poorly season one volume one has performed so far that there will be any special features.

Nice fake profile broseph

Attention *real* Brian Ward:

The so-called "webisodes" I speak of can be found on youtube. They are pretty cool; check them out.

RE: A few questions to Brian about "Melissa & Joey": Season One, Part Two!
Hey Brian,

The pre-order for Season 1, Part 2 is finally up at amazon.com. The package art says 2 discs, but the listing says 3. Which is it? Are there any special features? Did you consider the webisodes?

RE: A few questions to Brian about "Melissa & Joey": Season One, Part Two!

I'm beginning to think the two volume sets wasn't such a bad idea after all.  The volume two episodes aren't delivering the same punch that volume one did.

Volume two should have 18 episodes, so I hope Shout sprung for a 3 disc set/6 episodes per disc.  Nine episodes sounds like a lot for 1 disc.

Brian has yet to comment, but I sure hope that Season One, Part Two will be on 3 discs. I think by putting the final 18 episodes of the season onto two discs would compromise the quality of the set. I never have anything bad to say about their releases. Here's to hoping that it's 3!

Hey Brian,

I have done some extensive research and am completely baffled by my discoveries. Most listings for Season 1, Part 2 say the set will boast 3-discs, yet the package art says 2!? Please, please, please say this is early art, and that I will be holding a 3-disc set in my hands. (I would love those "webisodes" too.)
