Shout! Factory welcomes Hey Arnold!, Aaaah! Real Monsters and Danny Phantom
According to tvshowsondvd.com, the press release for The Wild Thornberrys has officially announced more upcoming titles to Shout!'s deal with Nick including Hey Arnold!, Aaaah! Real Monsters and Danny Phantom.  The press release also makes mention that agreement allows Shout! to distribute DVD and Blu-Ray releases of these titles.  As if getting these shows weren't enough, the sheer chance of seeing Blu-Ray releases of them is incredible.  This is all exciting news and I can't wait to continue hearing about more future additions being added to this promising new line.  Fingers crossed for Rugrats, Doug and of course some live-action classic shows!  Thanks so much Shout! Factory.

I just hope Shout Factory releases these cartoon series in order, unlike the MOD releases from Amazon.

Blu-Ray releases don't sound interesting at all, since they would be upscales. I doubt any of these older cartoon series have high quality masters available.

I hate to be a party pooper, but I don't we'll see many (if any) Nicktoon releases on Blu-ray Disc, simply because most of the material was produced in standard definition. I suppose the earlier Nicktoons that were shot on film could be remastered in high definition if all the original prints/negatives are still around, but I'd imagine doing that would be too expensive and time-consuming.

I found a list of all Nicktoons produced in high definition over at http://www.toonzone.net/forums/showthread.php?t=279991

Nicktoons produced completely in HD:

The Penguins of Madagascar
Fanboy & Chum Chum
Planet Sheen

Other Nicktoons produced in HD for select episodes:

SpongeBob “Truth or Square”
Fairly OddParents “Wishology”

And all these shows are either still very popular and/or very recent, so it seems less likely that Nick would let Shout! release them.

I should also point out that obviously, the theatrical movies of Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Wild Thornberrys, Jimmy Neutron, and Barnyard could be released on Blu-ray Disc, but I'm pretty sure they're not part of Shout!'s deal with Nick, and that Paramount would rather release those themselves on Blu-ray Disc.

And lastly, since Nick now owns the 2003 Ninja Turtles cartoon, I should mention that the TV movie Turtles Forever was produced in high definition.

While the idea of Nickelodeon Blu-ray's is awesome, I do agree that it seems doubtful it will actually come to fruition.  If it does, I will absolutely purchase both the DVD and Blu-ray versions.  When a company, such as Shout!, releases something that I really love, much like the Roger Corman Cult Classic line, I buy both Blu-ray and DVD versions to support them as much as I can.  2011 is shaping up to be a hell of a year for Shout! and I literally can't wait to keep seeing what they have in store for us.

This isn't a nicktoon, but a couple of episodes of Double Dare 2000 were produced in HD as a test of sorts. They used to air in widescreen on GAS. :)

Hopefully, we can expect bonus features.  I'm sure Shout! is certainly going to try and deliver some goodies for us.  Fingers crossed!

It would be cool if they put a whole season or show on one blu ray disc in standard definition. It would save space and be more durable.

RE: Shout! Factory welcomes Hey Arnold!, Aaaah! Real Monsters and Danny Phantom

I am thrilled that Shout! is releasing Danny Phantom! As a longtime fan of the show I would love to see tons of bonuses such as the original theme, cut scenes, promos, interviews, and anything else available. The "Inside the Nicktoons Studios" segments where Butch Hartman draws Danny and the "Reality Trip" recording session would be great, too!

New cover art would be appreciated as well. Amazon's Season 1 cover has Danny with his emblem. He didn't get that until Season 2.

Thanks so much for releasing Danny Phantom DVDs! I can't wait to get them!

Hey Arnold Season 1:

The Angry Beavers Seasons 1 and 2:

And what I'm hope for is a new Ren and Stimpy box set (with every single episode uncut) and a re-release of the Invader Zim Complete Series box set with old, new, and rare bonus material. And how's this for an idea?; The Penguins Of Madagascar: The Complete 1st Season.

So far all I've seen is that Shout is putting out whatever Nick gives them, which is the same cut stuff and all that.  From my point of view, Shout has no problem going back to Sony, Universal, Hasbro or other companies they've worked with for a long time and getting in their face and saying "give me the real version of this", but the newer studios they seem more timid with. As if they're scared to lose their chance to sign on to more agreements if they piss the wrong person off.  Sorry if this ticks off any Shout employees reading it, but that's just how it seems to me.

Unfortunately there seems to be a growing number of shows that are in some way edited whether it's because of film deterioration, music rights or because a studio finds material no longer appropriate. The thing is no matter how badly Shout! wants to release the un-edited versions of shows it's not up to them, it's either release what there given or don't release anything at all, yes it's a bummer but it's out of their hands. I just hope they can release some of the modern Nick shows before they need to be edited.

I guess my question is, why didn't we Season 1 and 2 of Rocko at the same time in one set? Did Nick forbid that too? The current season 1 seems like more of a ripoff.

Shout would be wise to release 2 seasons of these cartoons and other future possible shows like Salute Your Shorts, Welcome Freshmen, My Brother and Me, Rugrats, Doug, etc. together  in one box set.  Alot of Nick toons and shows from the 90's  only had about 13 episodes a season, compared with other sitcoms on other channels.

Will the Hey Arnold! Shout Factory release be similar to the Nick rewind release? I only picked up season 1 from Nick rewind and hope to continue buying more seasons from Shout!

Why do so many people want shout to release Ren and Stimpy and Invader Zim? Those shows have already been released MULTIPLE times on DVD. Give some other shows a chance.

I think a more important question is where is all this evidence of S1 episodes of Rocko's Modern Life being edited after cancellation coming from, when the only confirmed S1 edit is in The Good the bad and the Wallaby?

R&S wasn't "truly" uncut and Zim is out of print.

I would honestly kill for Hey Arnold commentary cracks by Craig Bartlett and others.
I'm probably asking for too much though.

The reason why so many people want Shout Factory to put out Ren & Stimpy and Invader Zim on dvd because Invader Zim is out of print. Ren & Stimpy was never really been released multiple times. Ren & Stimpy only been released on dvd two times. I didn't like the company that put out Ren & Stimpy season sets. They lied about The Complete Frist and Second Seasons by saying its uncut. Seasons Three and a Half-ish?, Season Five and Some More of Four? If they have didn't have it uncut, I don't know why that the cover says uncut. I don't know why, they put half seaon four on season three dvd. I don't why, they put more season four epsides on season five dvd. I wish Shout Factory would put out Ren & Stimpy DVD in season sets.

I wish the Hey Arnold S1 set had the episodes arranged in production order. There were actually 26 episodes during the first season, some of them were heldover.

I hope Shout! can have more releases of classic Nick programming like Double Dare. In another thread, a person came up with, which i think, is the GREATEST idea ever. Double Dare 25th Anniversary boxed set. I love watching all the animated nicktoons too, but I really hope Shout has some tricks up there sleeves to put out this boxed set, and also put out some other awesome game shoes on dvd as well, like Legends of the hidden temple and What Would You Do? .

And that's EXACTLY why I support this move. It'd also be more life-lasting, being kid proof scratch resistant and all. But so far I haven't seen a blu-ray release that comes with SD material upscaled to HD. Better yet, they make it go hybrid. A DVD with Blu-Ray layering.

RE: Shout! Factory welcomes Hey Arnold!, Aaaah! Real Monsters and Danny Phantom
As I mentioned in another thread, it doesn't financially make sense to author and manufacture BDs for SD releases.  Blu-rays cost studios (and us) 3-4 times what it costs to produce DVDs.  So even if you're simply using it as storage, you're still spending a ton on production and manufacturing of each disc.

Secondly, in terms of spacial issues, with the advent of viva cases--those that have room for as many as six discs in one standard amaray--, a 6-disc set is now no bigger than a single-disc set.  So you're not saving any room on your shelves at all.
