There Are New Rhoda Season 1 HD Transfers!
Hi, I live in Canada and have the channel Comedy Gold, which has lately been airing Rhoda! And I found all Season 1 episodes LOOK JUST AS GOOD AND EVEN BETTER! than the episodes that Fox supplied for Season 2,3,and 4! Theres no grain, no nothing terrible and are crisp and clear DVD Season 2-4 DVD quality! Just wanted to let people know!

I don't get cable anymore but am curious - does Comedy Gold butcher their episodes? Is there a lot of editing?

Not a whole ton of butchering. Comedy Gold seems to be very good with giving the best possible masters for all of their old shows and not usually using syndicated copies :) I'm going to see the rerun Joe today and see if its a HD unedited episode so I'll let you know.

While I'm not a big fan of Rhoda to collect the series (or many of the other MTM properties) is it just me or have these things never really looked good?  I've seen clips and I'll catch part of an episode here and there but have never watched a DVD.  These never seemed to look remastered at all (kinda like color epiosdes of Beverly Hillbililes and Andy Griffith).  They just look a little out of focus and muddy.  I'm not sure what to really expect I guess but when I compare them to other filmed shows that have been remastered, they just don't look all that clear.  Am I missing something?  Just curious as you guys would be the experts here.  Were they shot on an inexpensive film stock? Thanks.

Well these look great! I just watched the Pilot Joe on TV to see it was beautifully restored and included the "lost" MTM Cameo at the begining! Hopefully this will be a Shout Select or marketed product some day because their beautifull!

Is this station Comedy Gold available is the US? There's also Antenna Tv network here in the US and it's not available in many cities yet and they show Maude and many other great classic shows not seen much anymore.

Comedy Gold is a Canadian only cable channel. It used to be TV Land Canada before they rebranded.

They need to rebrand Tv Land here in the US. That network sucks now.

I saw some of Rhoda on ALN last year, great quality but heavily edited, worse than the DVD of season1 and that's saying something.

Has nothing to do with the film stock. It's owned by Fox and they don't give a [shiite] about their back catalogue. That's all it is. They neglect all of their older properties.
