Member since: 8/27/2007 | | Problem with my Weird Al Show collection | Hey, I was curious if this was an unfortunate design error in every copy of the box set or if it's only the one I own. On Disc 3 of
my Weird Al Show DVD set, in the episode "The Competition," the sound track is faulty and several lines are muted as well as some of the background music in the second half of the episode. I know that the musical number had to be edited (humorous story behind that in the commentaries for those of you who own the collection yourselves), but the sound dies out in more places than in the more "suggestive" lines of the song.
Is this only a problem on my disc and, if so, is there a way for me to have this disc replaced? |

You can receive your replacement by sending in the original disc to the address below. Your replacement will be sent out the very same day we receive your original.

Also, let me apologize for the way most of the people seem to complain and berate you guys on this message board. I think you're doing an awesome job! Oh, and concerning the Sam & Max DVD set, I wonder if it'd be possible for you to have an interview not only with Steve Purcell, but his brother Dave: the actual creator of the characters? |

We don't have an interview with Dave, but Steve does talk fondly about his brother's involvement in the original incarnation of the characters. It really is a great interview. I think you'll really love it!

I haven't checked my Disc 3 (I just got the Weird Al Show set for Christmas), but in case my disc is faulty, can I still send mine in?
Another more pressing question: I literally just opened this set a few minutes ago. To my sadness, Disc 2 had become dislodged at some point while still factory-sealed. Now it has some pretty large scratches on it, right out of the box. Can you help with this?!?! Can I send the disc in to be replaced?
Thanks again. Kudos to you and your staff... when I sent in for the replacement Captain N disc a few months ago, the turnaround time was SO FAST, I was afraid my mailman got whiplash!! (Man, that was corny...).
Anyhow, thanks for your help! |

I'm checking Disc 3 right now... I don't notice any major sound problems, but I have a bigger problem. When I go to the episodes page, I'm unable to choose any of the episodes. There's no cursor, and after a few seconds, my DVD player gives up and says to check the disc for errors. The only way I can view the episodes is to do the "PLAY ALL" option at the main menu, and then chapter forward until I get to the episode I want. Is this an authoring error?
Again, thanks for your help :) |

Member since: 1/12/2007 | | RE: Problem with my Weird Al Show collection | As for the scratched Disc 2, I'm afraid that's something we can't help with. We don't have stock in-house for things like that. It's really something you should take back to the store for a replacement.
Your problem with Disc 3 is unique. I've never heard of that happening before. I'm thinking you just got a faulty run.
My recommendation is that you return the copy you bought to the store for a replacement. If the replacement has the glitch on Disc 3, that can absolutely be returned to us for a replacement.
Thanks and enjoy!
Brian

Turns out, it was just my DVD player (it's a Toshiba HD-A3 HD DVD Player). It was having problems with Disc 2 as well. The cursor just wouldn't show up in the episodes menu. Both discs worked on my other standard-def DVD players.
As for the badly scratched disc, I found out my wife ordered it from Amazon, and they already have a new set on the way. They even paid postage to return the other, and I have 30 days to send it in.
A lot of companies could learn from you and your associates at Shout! Factory, in terms of customer service. Even though you couldn't help me directly, your advice was spot on. I've already purchased 6 DVD sets from Shout! this past year, and I'll being doing more in the future.
Thanks again! |
