They dont sell used DVD's at Walmart. Its brand new. Walmart is a great place to find tv show box sets though their selection isnt as good as elsewhere , but they cycle out their product and put other stuff in regularly so its cool. They stock the new DVD"s of shows all the time,, but the older stuff only comes through once in a while. They have a great $5 bargain bin with DVD"s in it too. I just picked up Willy Wonka (the original one)for 5 bucks and a DVD with Both Bill and Ted movies for 5 bucks too. However they cycle their product out fairly quickly so if you dont buy it when you see it, you might not get another chance.. I picked up the first 2 seasons of In Living Color there packaged in one bundle for 20 bucks. The same for X-files and Alf.  Ive also seen 2 seasons of Addams Family  and Martin packaged together for 20 bucks a piece.

Quentin, you gotta buy season 4. Please don't tell me your reasons for not getting it are one of the following:

The economy
The price
Waiting for the rest of the series to come out

I can't tell you how much I'm tired of people using these above reasons as excuses not to buy something in life. It's like they're so used to paying for $20 or less all the time.

Well i cant buy every season of every show. I like Mr Belvedere. Its a funny show. But do i love it enough to buy every season? Nope.  . There has been so  many good old TV  good shows coming to DVD  lately, and you just cant buy everything ya know ,  DVD prices in general have really bottomed out and this is a great time for people who love to buy DVDs to get their favorite movies. . Has nothing to do with being cheap really, I use the money i save to buy more DVD's .  it just allows me to buy more product. I do say that I collect TV shows based on price however, thats why I bought all of Shout Factory's Transfomers and Gi joe seasons. They were priced well.

I agree Quentin. I have my favorites on dvd that I will pay full price for them like Facts of LIfe, The Incredible Hulk, Golden Girls, Rhoda, Simon & Simon, All in The Family, Good Times, Maude etc etc...Mr. Belverdere I watched as a kid but it wasnt my favorite but for $10 bucks it's steal considering Amazon is selling it for $37 dollars.

Quentin and Soapsuds, if you're reading this, let it be known that I'm very disappointed in both of you. You two are the main reasons why we'll never get season 5 on DVD in our lifetimes.

Very disappointed. Either you buy S4, or we'll never get S5 at all. And buy multiple copies, so that S5 will be on the way.

Zaxxar, if you are so concerned about it, why don't you buy multiple copies of all the seasons?

I wish I could, but that seems like more money than necessary, and that money is more important for things such as paying the rent, food and water, bills, that sort of thing. Keep in mind that I plan on living on my own soon. It's a shame that Shout! Factory can't give away sales numbers for season 4 (not really sure why) cause then, that would give me a better idea of how many more copies are needed just to greenlight season 5.

RE: Belvedere for 10 bucks
You know what, zaxxar, as somebody who has collected TV show box sets for a long time, I can tell you that it was wonderful that Shout even offered season 4 of Belvedere at their site because frankly, according to reliable sources, there was a HUGE dropoff of sales between the first set (that had both season 1 and 2) and the 3rd set of this series. Shout Factory is doing alot of these old shows on DVD (Parker Lewis Cant Lose, Mr Ed, Small Wonder) and its DOUBTFUL that all the series they do will get every season of them released.  Its nothing on SHOUT factory,  they are MY FAVORITE TV Show  company ( I have ALL the Transformers, GI joes and Parker Lewis's, a couple Belvederes) its simply that there is too many DVD's   and Blu Ray's coming out and only so many dollars to go around.  Look at other 80's series like Whos the Boss and Silver Spoons, they ONLY have 1 SEASON released of these HIT 80's shows have come out.  Other series like Wonder  Years and   a decent WKRP have none to little chance of ever coming out. So be happy  with what you have man and good luck to you as you plan to move out!

RE: Belvedere for 10 bucks
Yeah, and according to one person on another site, apparently, the reason for the drop-off was because many people who bought the first set complained about how poorly Belvedere has held up, and therefore shyed away from the second set.

I never understood why so many people care so much if a TV show they once loved back in the day has held up well or not. I think they should just enjoy it for what it is, and stop judging it by today's standards.

If I was a rich man, I'd buy 1,000 copies of seasons 4 and 5, just so that the series will be complete. Crazy talk, I know, but it's probably the truth, because exactly just how many fans are left?

And thanks for the good luck Quentin.

I have no doubt there are tons of fans out there.  Ask anyone in their mid 20's to late 30's who Mr. Belvedere was and I'm sure plenty remember watching the show growing up or with their families.  I'm very happy we've gotten 4 seasons of this great show.  I am still disappointed that we didn't get more than 2 seasons of Perfect Strangers. :(

That said, I applaud Shout! for all they've given us the last few years.  They have really turned into an outstanding company that gives us what we want for the most part.  Many shows wouldn't see the light of day if it wasn't for Shout!

RE: Belvedere for 10 bucks
Zaxxar,
I hate to say this, but sometimes you have to just give up.  I'm going to give you a quick story.  Growing Pains was my holy grail of tv on dvd.  When I learned WB was going to release the first complete season, I was overjoyed.  I believe it was in 2005.  Well, I didn't  watch the set right away because I was waiting for the announcement of the second season  before I dug into it.  I waited, and waited, and waited.  After 3 years I was so frustrated I sold the complete first season, you see when it comes to Growing Pains I feel it is 'all or nothing'.  I won't settle for a tease of 1 season when seven seasons exist.  Here it is 2011....6 YEARS LATER, and WB decides to release the second season....?...!  I don't know their strategy, and I am confused, but I re-bought the first season, and pre-ordered the second season.  We are at the mercy of the studios, and sometimes we just have to bite the bullet, and deal with it, even if it is a show we love.  Until then I am filling in the gaps with other great 80's shows on dvd.  Street Hawk, The A-Team, Knight Rider, Gimme a Break(complete series from VEI) Tales of the Gold Monkey, The FActs of Life, Mr. Belvedere, Charles in Charge, etc.

Time is on our side.

RE: Belvedere for 10 bucks

Well, if that's actually true about Mr. Belvedere having a fanbase, then the majority of them need to stop pirating the shows, and buy the real thing. Besides, here are the problems that pirated shows more often than not have:

Syndicated episodes

defective discs

missing episodes

And that's just to name a few.

Quentin, yes I know that there are many shows released on DVD that have been completely abandoned, like the ones you mentioned, but there's a difference: Many of those shows have made the rounds in syndication plenty of times, and in some cases, continue to do so as of this writing. Mr. Belvedere, on the other hand, not so much. Not very many Fox affiliates (where the show was normally syndicated to) carried it, and the ones that did were mainly east and west-coast ones such as KTTV and WNYW. That, to me, is what makes it such an interesting specimen from all other long running 80's sitcoms.

Oh and Bryan^H, I know this will upset you, but no, I'm not giving up. If Growing Pains can resume after what seemed like forever, than I see no reason why Mr. Belvedere can't do the same thing.

I collected and have all 11 seasons of Married With Children on DVD  and it took over 8 years for them to release all of the seasons so sometimes you have to be extremely patient too.

Growing Pains season 2 was released a couple weeks ago,  more than 5 years after the season 1 release.  It's doing horrible numbers. Not to mention It isn't even available in any stores I visited looking for it(Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, and Sams Club).  I think it's safe to say this series has had it's run on dvd.

Nonsense, they could just finish it via warner archives. And unlike Shout Select, sales don't have high for a series to continue.

How do you know what the numbers are?  Dvd sales are always so secretive.

Yeah Im kinda surprised that Growing Pains, Silver Spoons, and Whos the Boss havent sold very well. I dont think the first couple seasons of these shows were their best seasons, maybe thats why, or maybe theres just too many tv shows coming out on DVD now. Maybe shows like these need to have all their seasons all released in one huge box set kinda like what has been done with other titles recently. I dont know if that would help sales, it might. It seems like cost of each season  is extremely important when it comes to these older shows too. The more expensive the less they sell.  Some of the other  80's hit shows with multiple seasons out have been deeply discounted over the past few years, hurting sales of new product Im sure too.

RE: Belvedere for 10 bucks

There's also the possibility that the reason they didn't sell well is because many people who used to be fans of those shos have complained about how poorly they've held up.

And sadly, I think that may apply to Mr. Belvedere as well, even though Brian did say in another thread that they don't have the rights to the final seasons, and that if they did, they would have released one of them tomorrow.
