Any chance of the DiC G.I.Joe series for DVD?

With the G.I.JOE: A Real American Hero series of toys celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year, what are the chances of Shout!Factory releasing a boxset or two of the DiC produced G.I.JOE series that ran from 1990-1992? Because the DiC produced series is a sequel (of sorts) to Sunbow's original G.I.JOE: A Real American Hero animated series that ran from 1983-1987. A lot of JOE fans are hoping for this series to be released because a lot of us didn't get the chance to witness it and have only have a small selection of hard-to-find videos DiC released back in the day, or any poor qaulity video recordings of episodes from when they first aired.

You can almost bet it'd sell well because of G.I.JOE's large fanbase.

The DIC version of GI Joe is hated by a large portion of the GI Joe fanbase, and the sales for the Sunbow version of GI Joe were quite disappointing to say the least.

That's true, but then Rhino were'nt well known for making their DVD boxsets fairly priced. Having paid over £80 for their Transformers: Season 3 part 1 and Transformers: Season 3 and 4 part 2 boxsets, only to get the Region 2 release which had the whole season at £30. Plus Rhino work slowly on their DVD sets, especially Mystery Science Theater 3000 which can be pushed back months and months.

Thank you Convoy, I have been posting things off and on here about GI Joe needing to come to dvd since I have been a member of this forum. Oh and by the way the DIC GI Joe series ran from 1989-1991. Rhino did a crap job on those dvds, they didnt clean them up, and they sold them for about $50 a boxset then never fineshed making them. Selling a boxset thats not even a whole season for $50 is not something that will promote sales. Also yeah DIC's GI Joe Wasnt as good as Sunbows but its still GI Joe!!! GI Joe was the most defining toon of the 80's. I was born in '81 so i was able to watch them as a kid (i also still have all my GI Joe toys packaged up on that note). When Rhino put out part of the Sunbow run on dvd back in what 2001 or 2002? i man old cartoons coming to dvd at that point were kind of in its infancy so to speak, old or older cartoons cominf to dvd has taken off in the last few years, and that coupled with the fact Rhino charged at least $50 a boxset could have contributed to low sales. GI Joe cartoons was the best in my opinion and needs to be put out on dvd Somebody really needs to re-release the Sunbow line as well.

I have a nasty feeling that DiC GI Joe is going to be a similar situation to MASK, however I do think that someone should redo the Sunbow series right (the PSAs, the complete no mistakes masters) first then the rest may follow.

We can only hope, but the DiC G.I.JOE series is still part of a popular franchise and would sell better then any of the unknown/unpopular series DiC have produced in the past. There will be fans that will no like this series, but will purchase it none the less.

Re-releasing the Sunbow series is hopefully gonna happen soon and whoever does it, I just hope they put more effort into it then Rhino did. And who knows, if that sells well, maybe the DiC G.I.JOE series will see release along with G.I.JOE:Extreme and the video special G.I.JOE: Sgt.Savage And His Screaming Eagles because those also count as sequels of sort to the Sunbow series, especially because Extreme and the Sgt. Savage special were produced by the Sunbow team.

DiC's G.I. Joe is not included in our catalog of licensed titles.  To the best of my knowledge, we have no ability to incorporate it.

Sorry, guys.

I think that's because Dic doesn't even own the rights to it, Hasbro does.

Turns out TV LOONLAND actually own the rights to the DiC produced G.I.JOE series.

Choosing between cake and death is easy. Choosing between GODZILLA VS MEGALON and death is not.

Just go to Veoh.com to see the whole Dic GI Joe series by typing in Dic GIJoe in the search bar. I know the quality is blurry but this is the best there is since no one else has it. Plus it actually has the Operation Dragonfire Mini series as well

I bought an unofficial DVD Collection of this show off EBAY and the quality for the episodes were good except the last four.
