Dear Brian,
I have a proposal for SHOUT! Factory: to make a deal with Sony Pictures Domestic Television Distribution for SHOUT! to release a brand-new DVD compilation titled "Super Jeopardy!: The 20th Anniversary Special Edition," showcasing all 13 half-hour episodes of the 1990 summer replacement series "Super Jeopardy!" complete, uncut, & unedited, just the way that they originally aired on the ABC Television Network.
"Super Jeopardy!" was an invitational summer tournament that ran on 13 consecutive Saturday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC from June 16, 1990 - September 8, 1990. The series had 4 champions per episode from the first 6 seasons of "Jeopardy!" (which, like "Super Jeopardy!," was, and still is, hosted by Alex Trebek), 3 of whom competed in one-game semi-finals every 4th week.
In the "Super Jeopardy!" round, the categories were worth 200 to 1,000 points, increased to 500 to 2,500 points in Double Jeopardy! Like the regular show, the game ended with a "Final Jeopardy!" round where the winner moved on to the semi-finals every 4th week.
"Super Jeopardy!" aired its last original episode on September 8, 1990. In this one-game final, an aspiring writer from Piedmont, California named Bruce Seymour (who's since died of liver cancer) won the $250,000 cash prize.
Bonus features, as indicated above, shall include a "Behind the Champions' Jeopardy featurette" along with episode promos, the champions' bibliography, and an image gallery.
Tentatively, "Super Jeopardy!: The 20th Anniversary Special Edition" shall be released in a special 3-disc collection on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at a cost of just $19.99, with episodes 1-4 on disc 1, episodes 5-8 on disc 2, and episodes 9-13 on disc 3, along with the special features.
