Member since: 7/16/2007 | | Hey Vern, It's Ernest | One show I'd really like to see Shout Factory release on DVD is the 1988 series "Hey, Vern, It's Ernest!" starring Jim Varney as Ernest P. Worrell. It only lasted a season (and I'm not sure if it qualifys for "classic TV"), but it did win an Emmy.
I'm not sure who owns the rights to it though. Buena Vista owns the rights to most of the movie series (with Mill Creek currently having the rights to Ernest Goes To Africa, Ernest In the Army, and his early commercials/programs and I'm not sure if BV has Ernest Rides Again and Ernest Goes To School... as they haven't put those out on DVD yet). Hopefully they don't own it (which would give it a better chance of being released by someone).

TV series | | Ernest Rides Again is out on dvd, although i have only ever seen the dvd cover art on ebay where people were selling it, and DIC did produce Hey Vern, It's Ernest, because i have 2 store bought vhs tapes of the show and DIC is on them both. I hope the show comes out too, i did a post on the cartoons forum a while back saying the same thing. |

As far as I know Buena Vista was only involved in the Ernest theatrical releases. Might be an interesting compainion to The Weird Al Show DVD release since both are live action, personality driven, saturday morning kid shows.
If they make it, I will buy. |
