I have a proposal for SHOUT! Factory: to make a deal with ABC Entertainment (a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company) and Vin Di Bona Productions for SHOUT! Factory to release a brand-new DVD compilation titled "America's Funniest Home Videos: The Complete 1st Season," showcasing all 17 episodes (including the original hour-long pilot and the hour-long $100,000 1st season finale) of the debut season of the hit 1989-1999 TV game show "America's Funniest Home Videos" complete, uncut, & unedited, just the way that they originally aired on the ABC Television Network.
The premise, which has remained unchanged since being revived in 2001, goes something like this: America presents the most hilarious moments ever caught on tape--most of which is unintentional. The top 3 funniest home videos of the night walk away $15,000 combined richer--$10,000 for 1st place, $3,000 for 2nd place, and $2,000 for 3rd place.
At the end of each sweeps period (November, February, and May), the top $10,000 winner vie for an additional $100,000.
The 2001 revival began its 11th season Sunday night on ABC, and the DVD shall be a commemorative 20th anniversary edition, celebrating 20 years since the show's November 26, 1989 debut.
As an added bonus, a direct-to-DVD featurette shall be included titled "20 Years of America's Funniest Home Videos," in which series creator Vin Di Bona hosts a documentarial look back at some of the funniest home videos ever made since 1989, along with a special aired on ABC in 1990 titled "America's Funniest Home Videos: An Inside Look."
Sincerely,
Danny Hooley |
