As long as the first set sells enough, we will definitely see a second, and hopefully third set (which would hopefully include Sonic Christmas Blast), which will, as long as there aren't any licensing troubles or anything of the sort, include every episode of the show. One can only hope...

I am very excited to see this show get a release; for years I had hoped for something like this, and until now that hope seemed to be all but in vain. Thanks for coming through on this one.

How is the first volume of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog doing (selling)? Is Shout! Factory producing Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volumes 2 and 3 yet that I want to get to complete the entire collection of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog? Thank you and have a good day.

I believe it is nice that you are excited about the release of this series of cartoons (so am I), but you can only do your part by going out and buying the box set for yourself. AoStH has a solid fanbase who have waited a long time for this, so I have no doubt that this set will be successful.

I didnt buy AOSTH cause i was a teenager when it came out, well 13 or so so i have no intrest in it other that SatAM which i bought, but everytime i have ever been in Besy Buy, especailly on the release date of a Shout dvd, Mario super show, cpatin n, mario 3, SatAM, etc, and i'm talking like 10:00 in the morning when they opened up before they had time to sell them there was never any more than 3 copies of a Shout title on the shelves, and i have even asked store salesman how many they get in, and they say whats on the shelf espcically concerning cartoons is what they have in stock, i'm not saying AOSTH wont sell well, i'm just saying judging how many copies are on the shelf isnt a good way to estimate if sales are going good.

While I agree that people should just ignore Johnny's repetitive posts, I do however disagree with you flaming YoshiAngemon like that. Flaming accomplishes nothing, and you just basically stooped to his level, if not worse, by actually cussing. Like B Ward said in a previous post, he doesn't want us making fun or yelling at anybody in the forum. You may not like everybody here, but theres nothing you can really do about it.

I'm glad you were a good enough person to take it back ^_^.

Also nice find, bmhedgehog ^_^, that actually got me thinking. Everybody remembers how they had a contest for SMBSS, to dress up as a character, and send in the photo and they'd choose to put u on the set. Well wouldn't it be cool for people to make their own tributes, and then Shout! would put them on the DVD. Anyone think that would be cool?

It's an interesting idea, SMB.

To be honest, Mr. Baldry isn't far from my thoughts.  While there is no tribute to him on the first volume and, most likely, won't be a tribute on Volume 2, it's my intention to reach out for a proper tribute on Volume 3, since it would officially wrap the saga up.  After all, Long John did survive the series, so paying tribute to him in the beginning or middle of the run wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Still, this is pending approvals from DiC and SEGA.  Someone higher up than myself may put the kibosh on a bonus feature of this magnitude, not because they don't miss him or think he deserves it, but because it is a DVD set designed for youngsters and wouldn't necessarily fit in with the tone or spirit of the show or the set.

We'll certainly see.

Thanks, guys!

Maybe the Current voice of Robotnik/Eggman, Mike Pollock (who works for 4Kids Entertainment) might think about becoming a part of it, by possibly saying the line that Baldry was once famous for, in the Eggman Voice of the now - "I hate that Hedgehog!"

In fairness, though, Jim Cummings also made that line famous at the same time with the SatAM series.

Change that to 2008, Shout isn't going to make any volumes this year unless you consider importing the series and buying Christmas Blast seperately.

One thing that puzzles me is that the series itself is pretty inconsistant with its animation and curious to know which company did which episode. I know all about the TMS episodes has they are obvious, but I'm stuck on the other three companies (except a deaf person did the beginning of Big Daddy). Only trying to do what Speedy Boris and the Golden Age cartoons do for a living plus it's been bugging me for the past three years.

It's not definite, no.

Unfortunately, we're not having as great a success with the first volume of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog as we did with Sonic The Hedgehog: The Complete Series.  They're just two different shows and one's outselling the other by a large margin.  Future volumes of the set might be determined by how well Sonic Underground does.

Keep in mind that it's not just about us making money.  If stores can't sell it, they don't want to carry future volumes.  So they kinda dictate what we can and can't produce.

By the way did Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 sell well to get Volumes 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The HEdgehog on DVD to complete the entire collection. I want to see Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volumes 2 and 3 get released on DVD in 2008, so that I can complete the entire collection of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog. How are the sales doing for the first volume of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog? Thank you.

That's quite a bummer to hear that. Hopefully somehow, some way, it will pick up a little and start selling better, because it is a great cartoon that deserves a full series release.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, it's always great to hear that SatAM was successful.

Brian Instead of wasting your time putting sets out you might never finish how about put a DVD out like say 5 episodes of the series and see how well it does. Or just leave out the extras since they aren't too interesting to me I just wan't to watch the episodes It looks like I'll have to order The whole series of AOSTH from the UK. sigh"

When you talk about dvd sales do you mean sales within a range (like 2-3 months) or can sales raise after a longer period and still count like after 5 month.  I'm asking because maybe Adventures Of Sonic The hedgehog sales will pick up during the holiday seasons.

Because no one likes to buy a DVD containing the same few token episodes that were released on VHS several times already. A set containing more episodes is much more appealing.

Well personally I havent bought AoSTH nor will I, because I'm not a big sonic fan #1, i was a teenager when it aired, although i did buy SatAM out of curiosty, had never seen it before but that was very decent, but i know they are two very diff shows, but hey, no hard feelings haha I'm sure a lot of you that bought AoSTH vol. didnt buy COPS vol. 1, which I want desperately for vol. 2 and vol. 3 to be put out, but i cant speak for B Ward, but he has stated that  a release has to sell 15,000 units in a years period, 15,000 doesnt sound like a lot I know considering theres what close to 300 million people in this country, but it can still be a challege to sell that many i would think, I have to say though seeing episode clips on YouTube , AoSTH and Sonic Underground arent the same toon as Sonic the complete series is, just my opinion

Sales numbers continue to be taken into account as time goes on.  In the case of Freaks & Geeks or even The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, sales continue to be really strong.  Impressively so.  In fact, we can now consider The Legend of Zelda a success after its sales were boosted by The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! releases.  The problem with that, sadly, is that The Legend of Zelda was "the Complete Series."  We didn't have to worry about it doing well to continue the line.

Typically, just as a major motion picture's box office numbers do, sales of a box set are strongest at the beginning.  That's when all the money's flowing into marketing and advertising and it's when the fans are most likely going out to buy the sets.  While I expect there to be a slight boom in sales on the first volume of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog during the holidays, I'm not quite expecting it to do as well as it should've in its first few weeks on the shelves.

We'll see, though.  I have every finger and toe crossed.  I have bonus materials shot and ready to go on these subsequent volumes.  It'd be a shame to have to ditch 'em.  Not to mention that I'm something of a completist.  I really want these series to have a complete run on DVD.

Now all we need is at least 14,999 more people to buy it. Get busy people. :)

What are the bonus materials going to be on Volumes 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog along with the episodes? As I have stated before I am not a big sonic fan, i own Sonic the Hedgehog the complete series, but not AoSTH, because i was in my early teens when both came out but at least Sonic is dark and serious unlike AoSTH, and when I say this I'm not trying to jinx you sonic fans on here or anything, but if sales for AoSTH arent that positive so far, its prob more than likely they wont pick up, i'm not suggesting they wont pick up, just that its more probable....personally i dont see how the release of Sonic Underground vol 1 is going to help boost sales...i mean sonic underdround came out in what 1998-99? And as i have read a little about it it wasnt as successfull as SatAM was it?    dvdtown.com recently did a review on AoSTH and although a few positive things were said, the majority was negative, not in any way to do with Shout's production of it, but i mean on a scale from 1-10  in the four categories it was rated in, the average was about a 3.3 they gave it......no they arent the masters of dvd reviews, but thats what I would give the toon as well personally, no offense to you fans, just my opinion. I dont know , if a show like COPS didnt sell 15,000 units in a year, or even after, i dont see how AoSTH could

Ok, I know a lot of people including myself have given jonny some crap, some more than others, so when i say this i dont mean it offensive.....Jonny,  Brian has stated and re-stated on here that the release of vol 2 & 3 is dependent upon how well sales do for Adventures of Sonic vol. 1 do, plus the possible exception of how well sonic underground does, I'm not buying any of these Sonic dvds but i still paid attention to what he said. Brian also said that AOSTH vol. 1 was not selling as well as expected, that he would do his best to get vol. 2 & 3 out  in 2008, but if not enough people buy Adventures of Sonic vol. 1 then they arent going to waste the money and expense to put out vol 2 & 3, cause #1 Shout wont make any profit from it, might actually lose money from it, and #2 the stores that sell the dvds will not want to carry the dvd cause it didnt sell well, they wont buy it....like Brian said the stores dictate to a degree what they can produce. If it they can produce it they will, if not, tough luck.....COPS fans like me got stuck with only being able to get vol. 1 cause not enough copies were sold to warrant the release of vol. 2.

Please tell me so that I don't worry about the upcoming DVD releases for 2008 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volumes 2 and 3 on DVD and Sonic Underground Volume 2 that I will get them to complete the 1990's Sonic The Hedgehog cartoon trilogy. Is Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 selling well now?

The best we as AoStH fans can do is buy the set for ourselves to boost sales, and spread the word to other fans of the show to promote it further. After that, all we need is to have a little patience, and wait and see what happens, all while hoping for the best.

Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog is a popular videogame cartoon show and we need to buy Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 DVD Set to boost sales to get Volumes 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog released on DVD and spread the word to other Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog fans to promote the DVD of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 to get Volumes 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog released on DVD!

All I will say Jonny is dont get your hopes up, maybe B Ward could correct me, but I would think that most of the people, or shall we say the vast majority of fans that bought AoSTH most likely bought it within the first 2 weeks to a month after it was released. Yeah I'm sure they will still sell copies here and there, but like Brian said the biggest sales are when they first hit the stores. I would like to make another point , to my knowledge the only mult-volume cartoon show that Shout has been able to release so far is SMBSS correct? I mean COPS, carmen sandiego, inspector gadget, etc have stopped at vol 1, also Shout sorted switched to putting out toons that could be released all 25 or 26 episodes on 4-discs at one time with no need of future volume releases.

Jonny, read the post B Ward has stated over and over, he keeps answering your question......Ward will not know until at least after the release in Dec. of sonic underground if they will produce Adventures of Sonic.....judging by the way sales have gone and how they are most probable to continue to be, its more than likely that they wont release vol 2 or 3 of AoSTH , cause sales arent that good, like i said earlier Shout has only had one successful multi-volume release which was mario, and mario is more popular than sonic i think its safe to say. Personally I would rather Shout put money into fineshing producing the rest of COPS even if they had to produce like 5,000-6,000 copies of vol 2 and 3 and since it prob would cost them more to do that, then make the retail price higher to cover the cost and let hardcore fans buy the few thousand copies, but i highly doubt that idea will ever see the light of day

Like I said before, Jonny, we won't know whether or not we're producing volumes 2 & 3 until after Sonic Underground's release later this year.  We will not make a decision on any of that until after Sonic Underground is available in stores.

RE: Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog sets 2 and 3

I've got my reasons why sales aren't as good as they should be:

1) Bad timing. The complete box set was released in the UK one month before the US (even though the US release was announced way before).

2) Interest. Of what I gathered online, most (not all) people in America just don't like AoSTH and love SatAM which is sort of true. E.g. Trustkill doesn't like it because he finds it corny which is completely understandable, I hate to say it but he is sort of right. The only reason why I bought it was because of childhood memories.

2a) Lack of fans. Most of the AoSTH fans have left or gone into anime. The only two active fans are British (one of them being me). Compared to SatAM that has two large websites (Saturday Morning Sonic and FUS), the only AoSTH websites are badly out dated, small and full of banner ads. Sad if you think about it.

3) Awareness. The show may have started in syndication, then to USA then to Toon Disney (over where I came from it's Channel 4, TCC and POP) but most of them had cuts of either time, Sonic Sez or questionable content (such as Pseudo Sonic and rumoured for Mass Transit Trouble). The series wasn't always aired uncut and the last time it was on air was 2001 (2006 for me). Amazing how 6 years have passed and the younger Sonic fans would be watching Sonic X.

4) Competition. It was against Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain for goodness sake. Even with John K's best buddy Eddie Fritzgerald working on it as well as some Spumco staff, plus 5 episodes done by a famous and well done animation studio; nobody cares. Depressively true.

RE: Adventures Of Sinc The Hedgehog sets 2 and 3

Thank you Spelunker88, I think your reasons are very falible......Jonny making an online petition is kinda pointless in this case, because you have to take into consideration that the amount of people , however many there were, that bought vol 1 of AoSTH, all those people arent going to all know about the petition a thus wont sign it, so the amount of signatures on a petition would be much less than the actual amount of sales that have been made thusfar, not to mention you would have to have thousands of signatures to even have a possibilty of it happening, the sales of vol 1 speak for themselves, a petition proves nothing in this case. Secondly someone created a petition for COPS vol 2 & 3, and last time i checked it had about 150 signatures on it, and its been up since last winter or spring.....the same thing with that it would need thousands of signatures.....

Jonny, just read what B Ward has stated more than once, he cant say anything about the releases of vol 2 and 3 until after sonic underground, but either way sales for AoSTH vol 1 arent good now. Sonic underground come out in what Dec? that means he probally wont say anything for sure until early to mid January, but as it is now and as it probaly will be AoSTH vol. 1 is a "shelf warmer" and most probale vol 2 & 3 will never see the light of day....I'm not saying for sure but thats the way it appears.

B Ward,
Are sales good now for AoSTH Volume 1 to get Volume 2 and 3 released? If Volume 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog doesn't get released in 2008, would Volume 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog be released in 2009? How many copies of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 have to be sold to get Volume 2 and 3 released? Thank you and have a good day.

Trust, I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you haven't seen the warnings I've given people for commenting on others'--especially Jonny's--posts.  It's simply not necessary.  You don't like 'em, don't read 'em or pay any mind.  At this point, with as many people as have responded negatively to Jonny, don't you think it would've worked, if it could?

Do not respond to Jonny's posts.  I'll take care of that.

Thanks.

Jonny, we're not quite ready to look into Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volumes 2 or 3, yet.  We won't know how they're doing or whether or not we'll release more until after Sonic Underground is released later in the year.

B Ward,

I am sorry that I got worried about the DVD releases of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volumes 2 and 3. What can we do to help get Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volumes 2 and 3 released on DVD that I will get to complete the entire collection of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog on DVD? Is Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 selling better now? When Sonic Underground Volume 1 gets released on December 18, 2007, will it increase the sales to get Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volumes 2 and 3 released on DVD that I will get to complete the entire collection? Thank you.

Jonny,

You can start asking me about Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Vol. 2 & 3 on January 1, 2008.  That is the soonest I will know anything on it.  Until then, I am focusing heavily on other titles.  I will not be working on Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog anytime before then.

Thanks!

I can see why Jonny writes his posts.  What I can't see is why you people keep talking about them when I specifically ask you not to.  It's as frustrating for me to tell you over and over not to respond to or discuss him as it is for you to read his posts.  I'm trying really hard not to write to you the same kinds of things you guys have written to him right now.  But let's see if I can put it another way...

On Thursday, September 13, 2007, I spoke to Wesley Reef from Marketing and asked him how are the sales doing for Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 on DVD. Wesley Reef said that Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 is selling very well to release Volumes 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog released on DVD to complete the entire collection! No, you know what REALLY screams "T0t@l n00bn3ss" a sad little douchebag who can't keep his mouth shut even when he's been told to shut it and leave Johnny alone SEVERAL times. And so what if Johnny writes his posts in an e-mail format, at least he doesn't try to act like he speaks for Shout! which you have several times, so leave him alone and get a life you sad little douche.

Sorry about that, but he really annoys me. Anyway, it would suck if we don't get the rest of A.O.S.T.H, I'm not sure if you can say Brian, but how bad are the sales? Would each of us buying a few more sets help? Or would buying about 10 more each help? Also I was thinking of picking up a C.O.P.S boxset, because the trailer on the SatAM boxset has got me interested, you've said you loved that set, you think it'd be worth my while getting it?

COPS is a very good cartoon, in my opinion COPS and Zelda are the 2 best toon releases Shout has ever put out. The sad thing is COPS only went past one vol release, and on that note Shout has only been able to produce and release one multi-volume toon on dvd and that was super mario bros super show, all the other ones sales werent good enough. and personally i think the only think that pushed SMBSS was people buying it for nostaligic reasons , growing up as a kid and watching it, along with the additional fact it was mario....i watched it as a kid and own both vols but personally i dont like SMBSS now rewatching it as an adult, its just too corny, but I cant speak for Brian, but hes already said sales for AoSTH vol werent good, the likelyhood of the sales getting better arent really likely are they? I mean the vast majority of people who bought it or would buy it, most likely bought it in the first month it was released. SatAM i understood why that sold well, AoSTH i can see why its not selling, and i certainly did not buy it. But i mean even a Soinc fan on this forum (Spleunker88) admitted that that AoSTH was a corny cheesball cartoon, and the points that he made in his posts as to why its probally not selling are valid.....but I personally think AoSTH vol 1 is destined to be a "shelf warmer" on the dvd shelves of stores, and based on perviously Shout multi-volume releases it is most probale that vol 2 and 3 of it will never come to pass, thats just my opinion.
