Muppet Babies
Great cartoon, with no release. Probably because of all the movie footage they used right?

Muppet Babies, despite the fact it's a great series

It's basically a copyright furfuffle when it comes to releasing it to DVD

Not sure.  Deals could have been made, though I would imagine that it would be difficult.

I think Disney might own the rights to the rights. They could make some kind of deal. If they can't get all the episodes on dvd, they should at least get most of the episodes on dvd.

RE: Muppet Babies

The thing is,there are a LOT of live-action clips used in Muppet Babies. Taking them all out would defeat the purpose, as lots of them are linked to specific scenes. An example would be Fozzy opening the closet door to see Darth Vader walking towards him. Next, they show Darth's animated hand reaching out of the closet towards Fozzy and we hear Darth's heavy breathing. Considering the clip lead into a fully animated scene, and there are plenty scenes like this, it would be heavy massacre work in trimming all the licensed content.

Some of the clips they show(old black & white movies) are public domain, so those would no doubt be easier to include. It kinda makes me wonder, was licensing clips and music easier back in the 80s? There are a LOT of shows, specifically from that decade, that are hard to obtain the rights to release nowadays because of all the licensing deals. Kidd Video and Kids Incorporated, particularly.

There were a few single-episode Muppet Babies DVDs that came with plush toys a while ago.  One of those was the Star Wars episode (Gonzo's Video Show) that came with a Baby Gonzo toy.

It would be so awesome to have this classic show on dvd, not only what it very successful..it is still very popular among many 80s children and the characters will continue to be popular with the introduction of the new muppets movie. I think it would be a great opportunity to at least attempt to acquire this program. If single dvd episodes were sold with plush toys...it must have not have been that hard to get through the red tape. The Muppet Show was able to make it to dvd, so it would be a shame to pass up on not trying to revive this. Its worth preserving, and many new generations have never seen it since it hasnt been on American television since the demise of the Odyssey TV Network in 2000. If you ever get a chance to outreach to the property holders of it, please consider releasing this program in seasons. Its very likely to be one of the most requested shows..it has always ranked very high on Tvshowsondvd.com.

Yes it's true. They released a single dvd of muppet babies. Gonzo's video show was first a prime-time special so i guess that's why they picked it.  The dvd will cost you high price now (as well as the single popples dvd) and was uncut with all the footage of star wars and other movies!  We need a full release.  We need little muppet monsters also!

a company called "toy play" released 4 plush dolls with a 1 episode DVD each in 2004.
Kermit came with "Daily muppet" (where they make Nanny a new newspaper after rain ruined hers)
Piggy came with "Piggey's hyper activity book" where the babies draw in a coloring book
Fozzie came with "8 takes away s panic" where the babies think Nanny's getting rid of one of them
Gonzo came with "Gonzo's video show"

They were supposed to add Rowlf and Animals dolls down the line but they went out of business before they made those
