It seems that this isn't the concern after all; it's more about the cost to clean up the episodes, which apparently need some work! Here's an exact quote from our in-the-know contact: "There are no legal hang-ups that I’m aware of on this series. It’s merely a question of perceived market demand relative to cost of releasing it...Eight is Enough is a series that we continue to review for potential release but has not made it to the top of the list yet." The "list" refers to WHV's "long list" of TV-DVD titles that they would like to put on DVD, but can't just release all at once (obviously if they released too many older shows all at once it would be a financially risky proposition, as the wallets of us fans are just not THAT fat!).
Actually, the first season was only nine episodes so they could do 1 and 2 together.

Brian, anything you can shed on the cost of cleaning up a show?? |

Member since: 7/5/2007 | | RE: EIGHT IS ENOUGH | Well if that's the case, perhaps Shout! can make a deal with WB to get this out to the fans sooner. If we wait for WB, DVD will be a dead format by the time they make it down their "long list". WB is one of the worst studios when it comes to releasing TV shows on DVD.
Please bring "Starman" the 1986-87 tv series, Silver Spoons seasons 2 & beyond and Jennifer Slept Here to DVD. |

I agree the DVD staff at WB are not very good. They messed up the release of Knots Landing from the start. Releasing season 1 (only 13 episodes) at the Walmart price of $38.00 - $39.00 instead of combining season 1 & 2 (which is when Donna Mills as Abby arrived) together at a reasonable price. |

Member since: 2/12/2011 | | RE: EIGHT IS ENOUGH | Hard to believe EIE has not been released yet. The show was immensely popular at the time and there has been quite a bit of interest in a DVD release. Why would this show cost any more to clean up than any others?
