whats the average age? what period are you from?
I was just wondering what age range the majority of people on here were, I myself am 25 (almost 26) and  growing up in the 80's and the very beginning of the 90's I am more of an 80's fan of cartoons. I was into GI Joe, MASK, Ducktales, TMNT, Ghostbusters, Bravestarr, He-man, etc. I was just curious, because people post things on here a lot concerning cartoons i have never heard of, or vaguely rememeber the names of. I own all the Mario toons so far, Captain N, Zelda, although as a child i only ever saw SMBSS and Zelda toon. So actually when i bought Captain N and super mario bros 3 it was actually the first time i had ever seen them.

RE: whats the average age? what period are you from?
I'm 16 years old and I'm turning 17 in Augest. I grew up in the 90s and I liked to play video games. I used to have the Nintendo Entertainment System but we gave it away and I later got the SNES which came along with Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World (yes those games in one cartrage). The shows I watched on TV are mostly shows on Nickelodeon which is where I watched Batfink, The Alvin Show, Garfield and Friends, Inspector Gadget, Rocko's Modern Life, Clarissa Explains it All, Ren and Stimpy, etc. I also would sometimes watch some shows on other networks like in 1994 I used to watch Mario All Stars. I also used to watch Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. I would sometimes watch shows on Fox Kids such as Eek The Cat, Power Rangers, Bobby's World, etc. On Kids WB I used to watch Animaniacs, Earthworm Jim, Freakazoid, etc. I don't think I've ever seen Captain N when I was young but I did own one of the comics. I watched the Super Mario Bros Super Show and Super Mario World on The Family Channel and I still have the VHS release of SMBSS titled "Count Koopula". I've seen The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3 a couple times on PAX kids but it was on at like 6:00am so I never really woke up that early. I would watch it when I'm not tired at the time because whenever I set my alarm clock, sometimes I would be really tired and fall asleep through the whole thing. Yes those were good times.

RE: whats the average age? what period are you from?

I'm roughly 18, getting onto 19 even though I feel about 20-30 years older. Like blueluigi, I grew up with playing videogames as my first game was Sonic the Hedgehog on the Mega Drive (Genesis) and became a minor Sonic fan (owning a few Fleetway Sonic comics, getting nearly all the games even have a Look and Find Sonic book based on SatAM). A year later, I got myself a Game Boy and Super Mario Lands 1 and 2 which also made me a Mario fan but where I came from, Mario was small potatoes to Sonic. Moved to N64 and Playstation (avoided Saturn as it was a poorly made console and expensive) in 1998/1999. Got myself a Dreamcast at September 2000 and a PS2 much later as well as a Gamecube on launch day. Nowadays I don't have much time or interest to play games that pities me and also no longer a Sonic fan after Sonic Heroes.

As for TV shows, I remember watching on satellite TV a channel called TCC where it had Dennis the Menace (the one with Gnasher), Isnogoud, Tintin (now have the DVD of that), Earthworm Jim (they made it), AoSTH and SatAM. A few years later it changed to the Family Channel and is now Challenge (a game show channel). Also remember watching the first episode of the Simpsons aired in the UK on Sky One (The Call of the Simpsons, the RV one where Homer ends up in a forest).

A good memory was Fox Kids, I remember watching The Tick, Eek the Cat, Donkey Kong Country, Woody Woodpecker (2000). I vaguely remember it was either Donkey Kong or something Moon on Fox Kids (I know the name but saying it causes global warming), I chose the monkey and not regreted since (I eventually got to see the other show and it is the worst animated series ever made even accidently caused some violence to other people the day after watching it, now you why I don't like anime). Plus Cartoon Network was good back then with H-B shows (Flintstones, Jetsons, Top Cat), Looney Tunes (which are still around today), Weasel, Cow and Chicken, Tom and Jerry (but now find it repetitive), Droopy and stuff I forgot. It was 10-7 years ago and I was very lucky to remember that. I might have watched DuckTales and TaleSpin but they are dating back from the early 90s. Oh, there was also Danger Mouse, Count Duckula, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Yogi Bear, Popeye and countless more.

The Mario cartoons surprisingly came much much later (about 3 years ago) as I bought a DVD of the Super Show and watched Super Mario Bros. 3/Super Mario World on POP which was and still is as of today airing (In fact Send in the Clown was the episode as of writing). At first I didn't like Captain N (what was this weird show doing here with Super Mario World I thought), but gave it a chance and liked it. Only recently I got to see a few episodes from the 1st Season and like it even more.

I'm 17 and will be turning 18 in about a month. My first video game system was the Sega Genesis. I got Ecco 2 and Sonic & Knuckles with it. When i was yuounger. my friend had a NES and i got to play SMB3 on it a lot. The only nintendo 90's show i ever watched would be Super Mario All Stars once. I never watched any Captain N, Zelda, Super Mario cartoon. nor ever heard of them untill 3 years ago (which is when i met blueluigi ). But I grew up watching all of the Sonic shows. The show I saw the most of was AOSTH, I only saw about 3 episodes of SATAM on the air. and i watched and recorded about half of Sonic Underground.

RE: whats the average age? what period are you from?

I'm 21 years old. I've grew up partially in the 80s entering the 90s as well. However, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is my cartoon alma mater. Ninja turtles is and always will be a show of greatness ever since I've first watched it back in 87'.Even though the show has been off the air since 1996,its still my favorite. You could say ive been a die hard turtle fan all my life. No other show, not even any of the mario bros shows, will replace it. Ninja turtles is number 1 all time in my book.Mario, sonic, captain N,transformers and so on..are great cartoons to me,but not so much as my favorite. The 1987' Ninja turtles dynasty will live on forever. In connection ,I'm also a big fanatic of 80s music too. No music will ever top that era.

All hail Pizza!!!

Seems like I'm the youngest as of now. I am 15, and have another half a year before I turn sixteen :P. I never really got to watch any of the shows on their first runs, I did however get to catch re runs. I grew up watching Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3, and Super Mario World apart of Super Mario All-Stars every morning w/ my brothers. I've also been playing video games from when I can remember. I was also into some of the shows mentioned above they include but are not limited too; TMNT, MASK, Tale Spin, Dark Wing Duck, Rocco's Modern Life, Rugrats(I Prefer the older episodes over the newer ones), and the list goes on, I just don't have the time, patients, or memory to name them ALL.

RE: whats the average age? what period are you from?
I just turned 26 and the Captain N show was the best cartoon ever. It was the last cartoon I ever watched on a regular basis, I'm not a big cartoon guy, but this show has charisma and it doesn't seem like a waste of time, of course when my DVD arrives I'm gonna check my brain at the door and watch it all .  I also really enjoyed the Super Mario BRos 3 and the super show.  And Camp Candy also kicked serious ass.. did anyone every watch that show? Simon Belmont is my favorite video game hero, lots of people hated his potrayal in the show, but I thought this cat was hilarious. Someone had to have the ego!

Peace.

I can see why. I mean, an odd few people CAN appreciate Simon for his goofiness!

As for my age, I'm basically 22, I used to watch the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, Captain N & The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and the Sonic Cartoons. Plus, I also watched Sam & Max: Freelance Police, which you can look for on DVD in February or March, depending on the stuff.

I am 36 years old and a big Animation fan (I don't have a wife or kids) but I still enjoy my week-end in front of my TV. Growing up in the 70's I've seen a lot of cartoons usually after school or on week-ends and have been doing the week-end ritual for the last 30 years. I've seen a lot of changes in animation and my favorite period is the 80's. Now through the wonders of DVD I can relive my past whenever I wish. A BIG Thank you to Shout for bringing us the best the 80's had.
